Yes, I know I haven?t finished my other stories, but truth is that I was stuck with them and decided to take a break until inspiration kicked in again. Unfortunately, it kicked in a different direction and this was the result.

Chapter 1

?I just need some space. Sometimes I feel like our relationship is more about you protecting me than of you wanting to be with me?.

?I am your bodyguard, so my job is to protect you?.

That was not the answer she was hoping for. She looked down and stared at the carpet. She hated it, she?ll order a new one on Monday.

?Then you agree with my decision??

?If you want to break up with me I don?t think I have a choice. I?m not going to beg you to be with me?.

?That?s not what I wanted. I just wanted to be sure if you loved me or not. I know the answer now?.

?I don?t want this to affect our work relationship?.

?What do you mean??

?I don?t want you to try and escape and put yourself in danger just because you want to avoid me?

?That only happened--?

?I don?t care if you were mad at me, promise it won?t happen this time?.

?I promise, Heero?.

They had never had uncomfortable silences until that moment.

?I?m sorry?. With that, he left.

Relena stood there staring at the door for some minutes. He had never apologized before. She knew most of the fights they had had during their 7 month relationship had been because of his stubbornness, but he had never apologized. Could he be hurt because of their break-up?

Heero waited until the elevator doors opened. He stared at his reflection and noticed his fists were clutched. The doors opened and he thanked the elevator was empty. He leaned on the cold wall and waited for the doors to close again. He felt something he had never felt before. He felt he had failed her.

During the last 7 months she had been amazing, she somehow always kept ?work Relena mode? turned off when she was with him, unless they were not alone. She could be giving a speech, with nothing but confidence and ferocity in her eyes, but then she would disappear from the stage and give him the most warming smile. He, on the other side, had to admit he always had ?work Heero mode? turned on. She was right, and he hated it.

He stared at his reflection once more, his fists remained clutched, but he was now feeling determined to have her back. However, he knew he was going to need to be ?not Heero working mode?, but that was all he was. He needed help, and he knew who could help him. Damn Duo and his abilities to sweep women off their feet! Fuck, he was going to love this.

Relena was worth it.
