Suzaku's Geass and other questions

CLAMP character designs meet Sunrise/Bandai mech action (+ crummy, sensationalized storytelling at it's finest. No, the admin isn't bitter about her favorite character being killed off, why do you ask?)

Suzaku's Geass and other questions

Post by Lady Saffir »

Just finished watching ep23 (le sigh), and I'm curious - at the time that Suzaku's most depressed, suddenly VV appears. So...what Geass did she give him (assuming she did). While I can see his sudden "I'm going to kill Zero" attitude stemming from the fact that his love interest was just killed, what's up with Cornelia's sudden perky self? No promises of revenge or anything, just 'let's get back out there and do our job'.

Soo....could somehow Euphie have been brought back? We all know that in anime, they love to let you think a character is dead, only to bring them back at a surprising moment (Zechs, anyone?).

Or is it simply that Suzaku feels like kicking some ass. :)

Guess we'll have to wait and see - and I know I'm really hoping Euphie gets brought back.

An addendum to the above, since I'm a scatterbrain. If you die and they somehow get you back - is the Geass null and void? Memory loss after cardiac arrest isn't unusual, and there's no way to tell what people will and won't remember. And if Euphie was already fighting the Geass, could it be wiped out by her 'dying'?

So, we don't know what VV (and VV is a he) told Suzaku, but we presume that he told Suzaku that Zero was somehow responsible for Euphie's actions, and then Suzaku already knew that Zero killed her.

Question of continuity #1: Why does Lelouch presume that Suzaku hates Zero for Euphie's sake? How could he believe that Suzaku could know that Zero was responsible for Euphie's killing spree?

There was some general spoiler info that said that Suzaku's physical prowess may already have been tied to Geass - something given to him as a child.

I've thought about them bringing her back since in episode 16, Mao said that Britannian medicine can practically bring people back from the dead (after he was shot 30 times). They're also bringing back Jeremiah (Orange-kun). However, I think we're probably stuck with a dead Euphie.

Question of continuity #2: How come 30 bullets doesn't kill Mao, but 1 bullet kills Euphie?
Or is it simply that Suzaku feels like kicking some ass.
I think Suzaku is entirely capable of being that upset over the deaths of all those people, and wanting revenge due to that. But, again, I'm not holding my breath that could mean Euphie would live.

In Arthurian legend, Lancelot was able to save Guenevere from the death Arthur intended her to have (burned at the stake with the crowd calling for her death), to secret her away in a convent. I think the creators missed the part where Guenevere DIDN'T DIE, the f**** bastards.

*ahem* anyway.

She'll stay dead because they needed the drama of Lelouch killing his first love and Suzaku losing his love in order to set the friends against each other to the point that Suzaku will be willing to kill Lelouch (and I think at this point, Lelouch welcomes his friend to kill him. I think Lelouch wants to die, now, and prefers it to be at the hands of his friend). Suzaku would probably not be willing to kill Lelouch for the sake of the dead Japanese people. Suzaku is willing to kill ZERO for that, but not Lelouch, and I think they need him to be to the point where he will kill his friend.

A recent magazine article in Japan says: Lloyd wants to protect Suzaku now, and Suzaku?s caption says that he?s heading towards the battlefield like a bloodthirsty beast looking for Zero.

And we need to eliminate Euphie as both boys' love interest in order for Kallen to betray Zero and join forces with Suzaku - she'll leave Zero when she finds out he was responsible for the massacre (Or even that he's Lelouch vie Britannia, a prince of the blood), AND that he's the one responsible for killing the remaining members of the Japanese Liberation front - minus Toudou.

We also need to shove Kaguya into Euphie's former position only reversed - Suzaku's cousin or relative who wants to become Zero's wife (yeah, ok, Kaguya, that WAY out-lames anything like: Heero, come and kill me).

BTW, I'm expecting Toudou will lead many of the other Black Knights against Lelouch when HE finds out that Zero killed the rest of the Japanese Liberation front.

And what will Lelouch do when he finds out that he's been used as a pawn by Kirihara - the person responsible for the death of his mother? Hm. I wonder.

Now. One thing that they have been hinting at, but haven't explained is this...

-Marianne, dead, talks to CC (ep 23)
-Emperor tells someone that he's talking to Clovis (who is dead), and THEN is notified that Clovis's body has arrived (ep 6)
-CC tells Mao, before she shoots him: Go there first to wait for me (ep 16). At the world of death.
-And where are these people, exactly: http://randomc.animeblogger.net/image/C ... e%2035.jpg

Does that mean the dead exist in some other world? Who wants to bet the goal is the destruction of Earth or even the universe? And who wants to bet that ep 24 shows Suzaku closing Euphie's phone with Zero's number programmed into it... The creators won't reveal whether Suzaku knows Lelouch is Zero, yet.

Anyway, I watched the raw of 21, and downloaded the subs for 21-23, but have not watched a subtitled episode since 20. Since Euphie and Suzaku held hands in a field of flowers and he took back his knightship.

That's where the series ends for me. They've been getting more and more inconsistent with the plotline - especially since ep 16. I was willing to forgive them Mao, and willing to forgive them for the Island of the Gods episode 19 (I fell further for the Lelouch/Euphie pairing), but not killing Euphie the way they did.

You have more strength than me to be able to watch those episodes. The only thing I may (or may not by the time August rolls around) still care about is Suzaku getting his revenge. But I can only watch that if they don't put him together with another girl. If they start with Suzaku/Kallen or Suzaku/Shirley or Suzaku/Kaguya or even Suzaku/Cecile (Counterattack manga, wtf?), they're just going to make me madder. *sigh*

Yeah, I realize Euphie is pretty much worm food....but a girl can hope, can't she? And the plotline inconsistencies are getting worse. And I was wondering how wonder boy was able to match his speed to the bomb and the other various feats he has accomplished.

And watching that last ep, I was wondering if Euphie told Suzaku who Zero really is. Like a 'please grant this death bed wish, he's your friend, I forgive him, blah blah blah' kind of thing.

*sigh* The questions, they keep piling up.

So do eps 24 and 25 not come out till August? Bummer.

*pats pats* Yes, dear. I'll let you hope for me. And again, my apologies for getting you involved...
And the plotline inconsistencies are getting worse.
Yes. Not only that, Crystaltear said ep 22 where Lelouch makes his "joke" about "killing the Japanese" (um, wtf? no one makes a joke about that), Crystaltear said that Lelouch said 2 other things between the time his Geass began to activate and the dumbass joke. But "kill the Japanese" is what stuck. Huh. NO PLOT DEVICE THERE.
And I was wondering how wonder boy was able to match his speed to the bomb and the other various feats he has accomplished.
He's Japanese, what more reasoning is needed? I guess in Seed, we were supposed to believe Athrun capable of those feats due to genetic engineering. Suzaku, the creators gave the spoiler that Suzaku was given something as a child that's connected to Geass. *shrugs*

Next thing you know, everyone will be able to pilot the Zero system. I MEAN, they'll all have Geass.
And watching that last ep, I was wondering if Euphie told Suzaku who Zero really is. Like a 'please grant this death bed wish, he's your friend, I forgive him, blah blah blah' kind of thing.
She didn't manage to finish the statement that she was glad she met him, so I doubt she mentioned Zero's identity. It all depends on how much VV told Suzaku.
So do eps 24 and 25 not come out till August? Bummer.
Nope. They're "premiering" in late July - having 2 limited screenings for select people and will have interview sessions with the seiyuus for Lelouch, Suzaku, CC, and Kallen.

*is so irritated that Euphie keeps being left out and they keep pimping Suzaku/Kallen, Lelouch/CC as the "4 main charas"*

Euphie ROCKS!

I've not even kept up with this once promising series for the same reasons as Boss but I will say this:

LONG LIVE EUPHIE!

*sigh* There were a ton of promising characters but they just had to go and ruin them. I swear that the animators/creators/directors are mucking things up due to boredom or some such thing. *looks over in the general Naruto direction*

And just in case you missed it:

LONG LIVE EUPHIE! And Suzaku saying "kero kero".

Stay dead Euphie!!! Mwhahahaha!!! The big boss lady and the queen of all that is wicked make excellent points. I keep up with the series just to see what screwball the animators would throw in on the next episodes. It's angst to the fullest. Now I'm wearing black and listening to Chemical Romance. >:)

Currently, it seems that Susaku does not have any Geass powers at all. Secondly, his overall athletic and combat abilities were always with him, after all... you see what he could do as a mere soldier in episode 1 and 2. Additionally, up to this point (Code Geass R2, ep 14) Susaku still has no Geass ability (or at least shown anything yet). Now, when it comes to shooting Euphie, Susaku is originally out to kill Zero because, hey... he shot his bitch. He only wants to kill Lelouch because he finally finds out that he's behind the mask of Zero. Oddly enough though, he chose not to kill Lelouch/Zero out of obligation of the Japanese people: he decides to trade Lelouch for power, to become one of the Knights of Rounds.
Anyway, I wouldnt mind if they brought Euphie back as some kind of cyborg like Jeremiah Waldfield, make Susaku's life even more of a living hell to create some kind of blood thirsty super-killing machine with a re-upgraded Lancelot. I do have to admit though... this show is getting way to emo-ish, now that Shirley is dead, but hey... that's life. Kinda waiting for the Russians in this show to get involved, they have to have something in there after all.

You certainly can't predict what will happen next in this show, that's for sure. :) There are a lot of plot points to resolve in 11 episodes, unless they plan on a third season.
Prince Charming may be thick as a plank, but he'll always be able to recognize the woman he's meant for.
