~*The Common Cold*~
Chapter Four
Heero woke up feeling lousy. His head was pounding and his throat was still sore. His strength was still pretty much gone but he was sure that now he could actually sit up without someone helping him. But instead of getting up he laid still on the bed.
Heero?s memory was a little fuzzy because of the medicine that he had to take but he still had them and remembered some of what happened the night before. He knew that he apologized to Relena, though it took a lot out of him to admit that he was wrong and needed her help. But what was worst was the fact that he told her that she was comfortable. He remembered that too clearly. Heero stared at the ceiling and thought about her touch. Relena was so soft and pure. He felt good in her arms, just laying there not having to worry about what was going to happen next in his life. He liked that feeling. But he couldn?t dwell on that. As soon as he got better he needed to leave and never see her again.
For some reason that thought pulled at his heart but Heero dismissed it.
He needed to stop thinking about Relena. He needed to concentrate on getting better.
?Oh great, you?re up.?
?OH God,? thought Heero. The last person he wanted to hear was that damn woman Mrs. Johnson. He didn?t know why but he just did not like her. Heero looked at her. She was wearing a dark green suit today with matching shoes. Heero wondered if she was wearing that because she would be going out in the woods and needed camouflage because even he knew that all that green was just over the top.
?Well since you are up now is there anything that I can get you??
Food was Heero?s only reply.
?Alright. I?ll be back with that soon.? As Mrs. Johnson left the room she bypassed Relena.
Heero?s jaw almost dropped. Relena was beautiful today with a light blue strap dress that reached her knees. The edge of the hem had small flowers on them which looked like they kept blooming with each step Relena took. Seeing Relena made Heero realize that he could no longer try to get rid of the feeling that she always aroused out of him. He knew he was forever lost in her, his heart swelling and beating fast every time she said his name. He spent so many years running from it, but in the end it had caught up. But now Heero didn?t know what to do.
?Good morning Heero! How are you feeling today??
?About the same.?
?Oh. Well I brought you some orange juice. That should help some.?
Heero tried to grunt as a reply but ended up hurting his throat even more. He took the drink and gulped it down in about ten seconds.
Relena moved to the night stand next to the bed and started to prepare his medicine.
?I?m not taking any of that.? Relena looked over to him.
?What do you mean? Heero, you have to take some medicine if you want to get better.?
?I really don?t want to.?
?Well please tell me why not?? Heero didn?t want to admit that he didn?t want it because it tasted awful. It would make him sound childish. Relena had placed her hands on either side of her body waiting for a reply from him. She was actually looking a little amused.
Silently swearing Heero reluctantly said that he would take the medicine. Once he finished drinking all that was in the cup Relena took his temperature and put a new cold cloth on his head which gave Heero a great look at the curves of her breasts. Quickly sucking in a breathe Heero adverted his eyes though he made sure he kept the mental picture.
?I don?t really need to change any of the bandages that are on your body. Most of it is just minor cuts. Those should heal very quickly so you don?t have to worry about that.? When Relena didn?t get a reply she looked up. Heero was staring at her very intensely. Relena was feeling a little self-conscious with him staring like that. ?Is there something wrong??
Heero hated how he was acting even though he couldn?t help it. His head was screaming at him to not fall for her looks, her touch, her love. His heart, though, was pulling him towards her. And right now his heart was winning. The one part of him that he thought was dead was springing to life and she was the cause of it. There was only one thing that he could do he concluded. He would think logically?and take his own advice that he had told Trowa a few years ago.
Heero shook his head ?no,? making sure that the gesture would cause the cloth on his head to fall. As he thought, Relena walked to him to put it back on. But before she could leave the side of the bed once again Heero grabbed her wrist. Heero and Relena made eye contact. All of the built of passion that they both had been holding back smoldered in each other?s eyes. Relena eyes where shining with light while Heero?s was lit by fire. They stared at each other for a long moment. Then Heero started to pull Relena towards him.
Just then Mrs. Johnson came into the room with Heero?s soup. ?Here we go. A nice hot meal.?
Heero was forced to let go of Relena and she staggered back a few steps. Relena turned to look at Mrs. Johnson. She had a question look on her face.
?Oh, well,? started Relena, ?there?s your food. I will check on you again later today Heero.? With that she left the room and closed the door firmly behind her. Relena rested against the closed door.
?What in the world was that all about?? Relena wanted so badly to believe that something might be happening between her and Heero finally but she didn?t want to get hurt again. She didn?t want her heart to be broken again. The only way she would do anything was if Heero made the first move. But was what he just did the first move? Relena was confused, her heart and her mind starting a battle with her life in between. She hoped what she was doing was the right thing and didn?t let her golden opportunity slip pass her. With that last thought she went on to start her days work.
Inside the room Mrs. Johnson served Heero his food. Once everything was settled she decided she needed to have a little talk with Heero.
?Do you like flowers Mr. Yuy?? Heero stopped midway in putting the spoon in his mouth. ?Flowers are very pretty and very delicate don?t you think??
Heero put down the spoon. ?What in the world are you trying to say??
?Not trying to say, am saying. Many flowers are pretty, but there is always one that a person identifies with and believe is special. They want to take care of that flower because it is so delicate and need all of the nurture and love that the person can give it. Once that is given the flower blooms bigger than the rest of the flowers and the person will stay with that flower for as long as they can, loving it, taking care of it. But no matter what the person does the flower must always grow no matter what. It?s amazing to see what happens when both the flower and the person grows. That?s why I like flowers.?
Heero looked at Mrs. Johnson. He understood what she was saying. Instantly he started to like her a lot more than before. Heero never was able to say anything back, Mrs. Johnson had left before he could. But from what she said he knew what he had to do. Too long he had stayed in the same hole day after day.
It was time he grow.
Wow. I saw how many people love this story and I knew I needed to get a new chapter out ASAP. But sadly there will only be one or two more chapters left in this story. But trust me it will be worth it.
