ooohh..I haven't been in here for a while....AnyHOO, I'm not sure if this movie has been mentioned yet but I think it works! It's the movie called "Wicker Park" starring Josh Hartnett and Diane Kruger....

Anyway, here's how it goes as far as the casting is concerned:

Matthew or Matt (Josh Hartnett) ---> Heero Yuy...I mean, can u think of anyone else?....lol..He's got dark hair and all..although, I must say Heero is still way HOTTER!

Lisa (Diane Kruger) ---> Relena...blonde & blue eyes....just really pretty

Alex (Rose Byrne) ---> Hilde....It just seems to me that Hilde could be this girl..you know, with her personality and all...not to mention, she's got dark hair too...

Luke (Matthew Lillard) ---> Duo....Luke's character in the story seems to be the happy-go-lucky sort of guy....and inevitably clueless.....It just makes sense to put Duo in this role not only because of the personality similarity but also because it just seems natural to have him paired up with Hilde....


Also, the story itself is quite interesting too...Here's a brief spoiler:

Matt saw Lisa across the street and fell in love with her at first sight...He started to follow her, they met, and fell in love.

Matt got a new job in New York, which would require him to move there. However, he knew that would mean separation from Lisa so, he decided to tell her about it and asked her if she wanted to move in with him. Lisa was so flustered that she was rendered speechless and evaded the question by saying that she's late for her dance rehearsal and that she has got to go. So, she left without giving him any answer.

Unfortunately, that same time, Lisa got a job offer to participate in a musical in Paris. She accepted but failed to tell Matt about it in person and can't seem to get him on the phone so she left a letter to her neighbour and friend, Alex.

Now, here's where more twists came in. All that time, Alex was apparently obsessing over Matt for a long period of time already -- way back even before Matt saw Lisa. Alex was just an insecure sort of girl and never did anything about it. So, on the same day that Matt saw Lisa across the street, Alex saw him follow and approach Lisa. From then on, Alex got the hint that Matt is interested with Lisa.

Months went by and Alex just watched the two enjoy each other's time from her apartment's window overlooking that of Lisa's room.

Anyways, let's go back to the time with Lisa having to go to this musical in Paris. So, she left Alex a key to Matt's apartment and a letter that is to be given to him, which would then inform him of her whereabouts and her intention to come with him to New York. However, out of jealousy Alex didn't deliver the letter as promised and even erased Lisa's message on Matt's answering machine.

Now, Matt has no idea where Lisa is or what even happened to her. To him, she just disappeared. To Lisa, Matt appeared to have cheated on her. Well, at least, that's the story Alex made up when Lisa called in to check if Matt got the letter.

So, Alex managed to set the two apart for 2 years. However, to keep tabs on Matt, Alex befriended Matt's bestfriend, Luke. Anyways, Luke had a lot of screen time but his role was basically to be the connection between Alex and Matt because some part in the story, Matt saw Alex in Lisa's apartment, Matt asked who she is and Alex introduced herself as Lisa number 2. She's not claiming to be the same Lisa, just so you guys know. She just made it seem like a coincidence and she slept with him.
Finally, due to Luke, Matt found out about Alex. Alex finally admitted the truth to Matt. Matt and Lisa were reunited once again....and as for Luke? He remained clueless even after the end. Alex just broke up with him, said it was over and that she just used him.

Anyways, my summary sucks but the movie itself is pretty much confusing until you get to the end.
