Please remember to put a rating on your fics

In the subject line. Please, please, if your story is above a PG-13 rating, tell us in the subject line.

I am considering other measures to keep the 'more adult' content under stricter guidelines - mostly because I want to be able to continue hosting it. There have been a lot of higher-ratings fics posted of late, and it was around this time last year I received an email from an unhappy parent.

I prefer not to have that particular incident repeated.

I'm not anyone's babysitter. If you're here and you're reading material that you know your parents don't want you to be reading or writing things that your parents would be upset to find out you've been writing (and you're under the age of 18 ), YOU are responsible for that. Not me. Do not get in trouble and then claim Rose twisted your arm and put a gun to your head to make you read it or didn't blindfold you when you got here so you wouldn't see it. I'm telling you that if your parents would be upset, don't do it. That's my official stance on the matter.

In the meantime, writers, put ratings on your fics whever possible, but ESPECIALLY if it's above a PG-13 rating and/or contains graphic depictions of sex or violence. Please put the labels in the subject line so that people know BEFORE they click on the fic if there's a lemon or other warning. If there isn't room w/the title, find a way to designate there are warnings in the top portion of the post. Like "warnings" or a W or something like that. Then, in the top portion of the post, before the body of the fic, put what those warnings are.

I like being able to host a wide variety of content. I do not want to have to suffer the fate that FFN did. I will do everything I can to continue hosting R rated + fics, but I also want to be considerate of those who do not want to read it or happen upon it accidentally.

Hm, despite the fact it probably isn't my place to make a suggestion, maybe you could make a new forum for pg13+. It seems like an easy solution, and everyone would know before they went in that it had mature content.

I have a hunch it would probably be quite popular.

Or do like they do on TV and place a letter after the PG-13 rateing denoteing sex or violence and such things like those.

The reason I don't want to have a PG-13+ forum is because it lumps everything in together under the assumption that people come to only view adult-rated material. Me, personally, I don't care if it's G or NC-17, I look for the story, the emotions, and the characters. I may be more likely to pick at least a PG or PG-13 rated fic than a G rated one, but I don't only read or only WANT to read R or NC-17. It seems a bit more difficult to have to go to one forum to read certain ratings fics and then a different forum to read the same pairings but with a lower or higher rating. What will end up happening is, depending on the split, people will only go to one or the other whereas right now, those that aren't underaged probably 'surf' w/o too much discrimination.

I know i am being terribly rude when i say this, but frankly i would have told the parents to stick it. It is their responsiblity to moniter their child, not yours.

Additionaly, if the child is writing the stuff, they can't stop him/her from that or thinking it.

Furthermore, (this is probably from the fact i come from a very liberal household, and was permitted to watchc 15+ videos while i was still 8 ) it is natural progression. The fics on this site do not focus on the Nc-17 in thier fics, it is more of an add on to make the fic more emotionally intense. It is not like it is porn or anything. Seriously, i would just tell the parents to have a look at the website and see that.

But what about adult veiwers that don't want to read lemons?
I am 31! I don't have any kids either, but I don't like stuff with expicit sex.
I would like a warning before I read.

And telling concerned parents "to stick it" is very bad PR

ok, so i was a bit upset by the fact parents do not have the common sense to either a) put internet potection on their kids internet and b) not understanding that they can't stop their kids from writing it and their fore thinking it.

i don't mind rating the fics, but when they blame the manager of this site who clearly warns all that there is lemony stuff on here, that is just plane silliness. Rose cannot monitor everyone on here, checking if they are 13 or 30. that is our responsiblity as and individual to read the appropiate storeis for our age group or that we feel mature enough to read. (or with your parents express permission) This site is about the freedom of writing. I don't think any parent has the right to take that away. And i seriously doubt that anyone who comes to this site is here for the sex scenes only. god knows i only read those when there in the story, i don't think anyone specifically looks for that alone.

if the parents are concerned, then it is there responsiblity to take the appropiate steps of talking and explaing to their child what they can and cannot do.

Blaming the site manager is really silly thing to do, expressing their concern is one thing, but they shouldn't dictate to rose how to run the site, that is plain rude.

i agree with you... it would be a lot easier if you just made one for pg 13+
this way you and the people on the site won't get into any troble(sp?)
