NO! An itsy-bitsy guitar is not really a good idea...start off with the standard size..that way, you'd get used to the feel of it when you're playing..especially when you do your chord formations on the fingerboard....smaller ones aren't really gonna help you achieve success with chord transitions...

Yea, since you're an absolute beginner, a classical guitar would be the easiest for you to practice on since it has nylon strings and a wider fingerboard...and it also depends on what type of music you play...I mostly do rock, punk, and alternative so I prefer acoustic and electric guitar..but just like you, I started with a classical and moved my way upwards to electric...

Don't be overwhelmed with the size..it's not something you should be worried about..(well, as long as the guitar is not bigger than you)....Get the full size, which is 4/4 .....the rest of the sizes are for kids...It mostly depends though on your arm's reach (as long as you can touch the end of the guitar)..If you're at least 5'0", then I think you should be fine..

I agree with that. Oh, & don't use the steel strings. You'll only have finger pain, & worse, they they snapped almost all the time.

Hmm, I see...

These advices are very helpful ^^ Therefore I have few more questions. As for now, priest who teaches me religion has lent me his guitar to practise a 'lil bit. BUT he said, that if I was going to buy a guitar, I should: invest a 'lil bit more money than I planned at the beginning, than have a 'soft' guitar, which, he explained, should be a little wider, than with nylon strings (I knew that the metal ones are pain in the @$$ for beginners ), and last - "It should be Italian, German or Czech"...

I do not get the last part - could you guys explain me with the "Italian, German or Czech" part? I suppose it's either a company or a type... And one last thing - do they synchronise the guitar for you in the shop?.. Cuz I am sure that I COULD NOT do it by myself

Thanks for everything :D :salute:

I've never heard of "soft" guitars....I'm not sure though if what you mean by that are the "soft" guitar cases people usually buy because it's much cheaper than hard cases...Anyway, I'm not really sure how knowledgeable and experienced the "priest" is regarding guitar playing but honestly, I don't think it really matters whether a guitar is made from Italy or Germany...especially for beginners...you'll mostly notice the difference once you get the hang of things...so you don't really need to spend all that money on first-class guitars especially if your budget is constricted...I doubt that you'll even notice the difference...Start out with the simple ones...just invest a fair enough amount of money and try to stay away from the ones made in China (no offense) because some of them are a bit screwed up and doesn't produce that great of a sound....

I'm not sure about all this, though..the best way to really know for sure what's the right guitar for you is to check out your local guitar shop and skim through their stuff and don't forget to ask the staff because they probably know more about it than I do...Just ask them 'cuz that's what I did when I started out...

Yea..I think they'll tune the guitar for you there upon request or you can also buy one of those instant tuners (I have one and it's very convenient)...Don't wory about the price 'cuz I got one for only $20 (some are $300) and it should be good enough since we're not professional guitar players who actually play on stage with hundreds of people watching...like you, I had my 'field' experience in church whenever we do praise and worship....The one that I got also has a plug for tuning electric guitars...

P.S. Don't worry much about what guitar to buy but rather focus on the fundamentals 'cuz that is what's gonna carry you through your learning process.....trust me, your 'first' guitar isn't gonna be your last..once you're hooked...you'll keep on buying different kinds so you can try out the different things they do...I'm 18 and in my lifetime, I've had 4 guitars already in which I kept two of them and sold the other two...if you're tired of your guitar, most small-time guitar shops do consignments (kinda like trading off and paying the difference) but it also depends on the guitar's quality and condition...that's how I got my electric.....

I hope I helped answer your questions...I can't wait to get you started.

Here's a random question.

I want something to automatically download sound files off a website for me. specifically, they are date sensitive sound files with names that change based on the date. (and no it's not pod casted). So does anyone out there know a solution for me?

...In answer to that type of question I would say "Ask Adaon." But, erm, you -are- Adaon, so somehow I don't think that would work.

You couldn't set up an RSS feed for it?

It doesn't have an rss feed.

Although I have seen a site that will generate rss feeds so maybe that's my answer.

It would be kind of amusing if I just answered my own question.
