A Manly war

Relena woke with a slight headache. She blinked several times to get the sleep out of her eyes.

"Why am I nude?"

The night before came back to her and she beamed. Heero.

Turning on her side she snuggled up to a pillow.

Pillow?

Her eyes snapped open. Where in the hell was Heero? He left her? Oh god, she couldn't handle that. No. He promised. Shaking, she started to cry. No. He promised. Damn him. No. She took that comment back as she passed the parlor where she heard voices. Manly voices.

"Damn them both." She muttered.

Heero, wearing her brother's sweats and a cigar in his mouth, was casually bidding her 'Friday afternoons' which Millardo 'sees his bid and raises her Sunday mornings' with an arched eyebrow. Neither had shirts on.

"The jerks."

Centered on the table was a bunch of white papers with days and times on them.

"Hi honey." Millardo called after her as she passed.

"Hn." She growled. She retreated to the kitchen and poured a cup of coffee which faltered in her hands when she heard Heero screech in a deadly tone, "That's not fair! You can't watch us doing that kind of stuff!" -Followed by much laughter, on both men's part.

Were they talking about her love making? Joking about it? If she hadn't been so relieved that they weren't killing themselves she would have been angry.

Forcing a smile Relena balanced three coffee cups to the parlor.

"And to think I thought you two wouldn't get along."

"Hush. You're distracting me." Millardo studied his hand carefully. How in the hell was Yuy winning? Not mention the hand before, the hand before that and the ...cheap bastard.

"So..." Relena dared her voice to be calm. "What days to get I get to myself?"

Both men looked up questionably. Time? For herself? They hadn't even thought of that. Why would she need time for herself? Heero could be with her when she did anything personally, Millardo could be where ever she went. Why time to yourself?

"Well?" Relena nodded towards the pile between them. "Which ones are mine? And only mine?"

"Well hun," Millardo paused and looked at the score sheet. He still didn't understand why she needed time to herself. She was such a selfish jerk at times. "Looks like you have Tuesdays for awhile."

Relena's eyes narrowed dangerously. "How much is 'awhile.'"

Millardo didn't answer but jumped up and danced around, swinging the coat rack as his 'dance partner' with his cards in his hand. "I'm ganna win!"

Heero looked up from his hand and paused. "Um, I have four aces."

Millardo stopped before he was about to do a 'dip' with the coat rack. "Damn you Yuy. You're cheating."

"Cheating? Hah. You just want your sister to stay away from me."

"No, I just want some brotherly time with her."

Relena held her temples. Good god.

"Fine, let's settle this a more manly way." -and here came the fist fight, Relena thought.

"Shoots and Ladders?" Heero asked.

"Bingo."

Both men smiled a sly smile that sent Relena hay-wired. She had enough.

"Heero, if you bid my life with shoots and ladders you will sleep on the couch. Clear?"

"Crystal."

"Heero?" Relena choked on her coffee. The nerve of that man! That man who was bidding her days like money, that man who was treating her like dirt! That man who looked so helplessly sexy in her brother's clothes.

'Why did I fall in love with him?' Then the memory of the night before came full blast back, leaving a brush of a blush on her cheeks. 'Oh, yeah.'

She was jolted out of her thoughts when she heard Heero ask in the other room, "I want to be that girl. She has cute pigtails. You can be the boy in green overalls."

"But she has blonde hair just like me. You can be the boy in green overalls."

"NO. Give me the girl. You're just afraid you won't win. I bet you will fall down all the shoots!"

"You only wish! You want the girl? Come and get it Yuy."

"Fine, this is war, Peacecraft!"

Through out the house laughter and threats of victory rang out. Relena crawled back into bed and covered her head to block the yells out, only to have it ripped by a desperate looking brother.

"Hide me," He screeched in a whisper.

"Huh? Why?" She blinked several times. What in the hell was going on?

Panic erupted on his face when Heero yelled down the hall, "Nine! Ten! Ready or not, here I come!"

Relena bit her lip to keep from smiling.

Idea.

"Okay, okay....Here!" She dragged his hand over to the closet. "In here."

"Thank you dear. You're the best." He pecked her cheek and basically threw himself into the...Dark. Small. Closet.

Relena grinned evilly as Heero entered her room. "Where is he?"

She couldn't believe this man could keep a cold face while playing hide and seek at the age of twenty-four. "I think I saw him in the closet. Why don't you check?"

Heero arched an eyebrow and slowly made his way to the closet.

"Heero?" Relena asked when he stopped in front of her.

"Don't worry Relena. I will win you. It is my mission." Relena mentally groaned.

"Heero. I love you." She scowled at him in a sigh. No smile on her face. If she was in love with this man, she had a long life ahead of her.

Heero expected her to say those words in a soft tone, with a sweet smile like the night before. But before he could inquire her she opened the closet and pushed him in the...Dark. -SMALL- Closet.

The sound of the door locking echoed through the parlor and out into the halls.

"What a day." Relena smiled to herself as she kicked off her shoes and unbraided her hair.

The bathroom seemed peaceful, she noticed. The hall seemed peaceful. The neglected cards on the parlor table seemed peaceful. It was just so peaceful. A smile crept on her face. "I wonder how those two are getting along."

However, when she entered her room a full force scream came out.

Shutting her mouth she turned on her heel and ran out.

"What's her problem?"

"I don't know."

"Another game of thumb war?"

"You're on Yuy."

"You think you can beat me?"

"You bet."

"This is war!"

"Thumb war to be correct"

"Hn"

"1...2...3...4...I declare a thumb war!" The two voices cheered together. The closet door shook, the hangers fell, and the heated battle between the two thumbs continued for Relena's time.

This was, and always would be, the manly war between brother and sister's lover.
