It
was cloudy and growing dark. Jalise
looked down at her watch and saw that it was out-of-whack. The hands were moving backwards instead of
forward. ‘Piece of shit…’ she thought as she continued down the brightly-lit
street. She looked around and saw that
the street was lined with small shops, trees and further ahead were the taller
buildings. She looked around hoping to
find something that would help her. ‘Find what?
What…who could possibly help me now?’
‘Go back to the Preventer’s HQ…’ Jalise
shook her head and pushed on. ‘I’m not going back.’ She turned around and looked down the
street. ‘Besides, I don’t remember how I got here in the first place.’ Jalise continued down the street for
thirty minutes before realizing that it seemed to have gotten darker. She looked up and around and saw that she
must’ve ended up on the wrong side of
town. She looked around and saw metal
barrels of fire with not so friendly looking people surrounding them. She crossed a quiet street and looked down
the block. There a couple of parked
cars, but they were stripped. ‘Maybe I should turn back…’
As
she turned around, a mob of six men dressed in black were a couple of feet away
from her. ‘Okay maybe not.’ She
turned back around and hurried down the block, hoping she’d end up on a busy
street. ‘Maybe I should’ve just stayed with Sally and those men and then I would
be some place safer…but no I had to run off.
I should’ve thrown a temper tantrum.’ She glanced back behind her every now and then and saw that they
were still following her. So she picked
up the pace.
“Hey
miss, can I talk to you for a second,” one of them yelled. ‘Hell
no…’ she thought. She took a sharp
left down a narrow alley and nearly stopped.
There were other people there as well but at the other end, she saw cars
zip by. ‘Help…’ She began to jog once she heard them yell for her
again. They picked up the pace as
well. She looked back and saw that they
were very close behind her. She broke
into a run. “Hey!”
Jalise
knocked over a blazing garbage can hoping that it would slow them down. She looked back and saw that three of them
were still after her…and they were within an arms reach. ‘God
no…’
“Come
here!”
She
tried picking up the pace, but tripped over a homeless person’s blanket. She stumbled, but kept on. But she was too slow. She was about six feet away from the other
end when he threw her against the wall.
Heero
looked up at the sky through the windshield and saw lightening flash. ‘Looks
like rain…’ Moments later, it began to pour. He stopped at a red light
and sighed. Lady Une personally called
him on the car phone and notified him of the situation. While giving the description, the mention of
Relena’s name brought back-unwanted memories.
Nearly three months ago, he caught Relena coming out of a bar drunk with
another man…a coworker of hers. Six and
a half-hours later, Relena left the guys apartment. When he went to her apartment three days after, he questioned her
about it, and she didn’t have an answer.
He walked out without saying good-bye.
*Beep-beep*
Heero stepped on the gas and went through the light, turning onto Damsels
Road. He parked the car in front of a
small market and decided to pick up a soda and few things for his
apartment.
Jalise
punched guy #1 in the stomach and pushed him into guy#2. Guy #3 punched her in the stomach and pinned
her against the brick wall. “You think
you’re tough huh missy? Well I’ll show
you tough.” He ripped her shirt open
and began to suck hard on her neck.
Jalise, gasping for air, placed shaky hands on his shoulders to push him
off, but she wasn’t strong enough. ‘I need…to breathe…’ The man that was
currently harassing her placed her hands slightly above her head and tried to
kiss her. Seeing this as a small
opportunity, Jalise kneed him in the groin, causing him to keel over. Then she elbowed him at the back of his
neck, knocking him out.
“Why
you little...” She gave guy#2 a hard right hook and broke #1’s nose. Then she ran out of the alley and around the
corner.
Heero
walked out of the store, drinking his soda when somebody ran into him knocking
everything out of his hands, and landing on the wet ground. Jalise stood there looking down at the
Prussian blue eyes glaring up at her.
“I’m…I’m…I didn’t mean…” She was about to apologize when something
familiar caught her eyes. It was an ID
tag that looked the same as Sally’s.
Her expression changed from fear to slight agitation and relief. “Watch where you’re walking, sir.”
“Maybe
you should watch where you’re going,” Heero growled as he stood up. Jalise took a step back, observing his
height and masculinity. ‘Wow…he’s so…mysterious looking.’ Prussian blue stared into light amber as the
cold rain pounded on them both. Heero
took note of the woman’s attire and her features. ‘Same height as Relena,
light brown sandy hair, bronze streaks, amber eyes but they’re lighter. Blue jeans, lavender shirt…’
“What
happened to your shirt,” Heero questioned.
Jalise blinked a couple of times before looking down at her shirt.
“I…it was ripped.”
“How
did that happened,” he asked in is monotone voice.
Jalise
looked behind her to see if they were following, ‘What a time to check bird brain…’ but hey weren’t there. She looked away from him. “It’s no-nothing f-for you t-to concern
yourself with,” she stuttered. Her shirt
was thin and it was April rain…not summer rain and it was cold. She began to walk around him, but he stopped
her.
“You’re
wet, cold, and you have no place to go…Jalise Dales.” Jalise looked up and peered at him.
“How’d
you know-” He grabbed her arm and began to pull her towards his car. She resisted. He grabbed both arms and glared at her. “Look, I can take you to back to the Preventer’s Headquarters and
they can help you there. Let’s g-“
“I’m
not gong back there. So let Go!” She yanked her arms out of his grasp and
pushed Heero out of her way. Heero
wrapped an arm around her waist and dragged her towards the car.
“Let
me go you bastard! I said I’m not
going!”
“Calm
down. You’ll attract attention towards
us.”
“That’s
the whole point.” Heero opened the
driver’s side and pushed her into the passenger side and got in after her. He closed the door and watched her struggle
with the door lock.
“It’s
an automatic and that door has a child lock on it for situations like this.”
He
started the engine and turned the windshield wipers on. Jalise pounded the dashboard and crossed her
arms like a stubborn child.
“Put
your seat belt on.”
“No.”
“Stop
being stubborn.”
“I’m
not going.”
“Fine.” He put the car in drive and drove off into
the intersection. Jalise kicked the
bottom of the dashboard and gave an exasperated sigh. “Let me go…” she whispered.
Heero
gave her a sideward glance and kept driving.
“I can’t do that. I have my
orders and that’s to bring you back to HQ.
Besides, you’re soaked. You
could catch a cold.”
Jalise
looked over at the driver and was appealed by the sight. His unruly hair was plastered to the sides
of his face and water ran down his masculine jawbone. She looked away and smiled at her thoughts. ‘I wonder
what he looks like in the shower.’
She shook her head and put the seat back and closed her eyes. Heero stooped at a red light and looked over
at Jalise. She was completely soaked
and looked very cold, besides the fact her shirt was ripped open and her
nipples were hard (it showed through her bra).
Her head was turned towards the window but he could tell that her eyes
were closed. Her hair clung to the
sides of her face and around her chest.
‘She doesn’t look so
different from anyone else here.’ Seeing
that she was trying to keep herself warm, he took off his not so wet jacket and
gave it to her. Jalise just simply
looked at it and placed it on her, as if she were putting it on backwards. “We’re not that far from headquarters so
don’t get comfortable.”
“Whatever. Just drive.”
Heero
sighed and picked up the car phone to notify headquarters. The light turned green and he pulled
off. The visibility wasn’t good, so he
drove slowly. “Driving and talking on
the phone…in this weather? Ha, just
what the hell are you trying to prove?”
Trowa answered the phone.
“Trowa,
this is Heero. I have her and I’m on my
way.”
‘Heero? Nice name…’ Jalise thought as she watched him talk on
the phone. ‘Believe it or not, I’m beginning to fall for this jerk.’ She snapped her teeth and turned on her
right side and stared at the door.
“I’m
about three miles away. The weather’s
bad, so give me thirty minutes.” Jalise
stared at the ‘unlock’ button and was tempted to touch. ‘Then
do it while he’s still on the phone,’ that little voice replied. With her movements barely noticeable, she
pushed the button. The little knob
popped up. Heero hung up the phone and
stopped the car. He looked over at Jalise and saw that she was reaching for the
door handle. He reached over to grab
her, but accidentally pushed on the gas pedal with his foot at the same
time. The car jumped forward and he
quickly grabbed the wheel, turning into a backstreet. Jalise opened the car door and looked down at the passing
concrete. 'He's going to fast.’ She
closed the door and looked over at him seeing that he tried to get the car
under control. She looked out the
windshield as saw he was about to hit a tree until she grabbed the wheel and he
hit the brakes…hard.
Okay so I might not know how long it would take you from your current
location to your final destination if it were only three miles away. Must I do the math? Please no (backs away from the math book…)
No!
O_O: She’s got
problems…
Minya: No I don’t…at
least I don’t think I do.
