‘It’s just for thirty minutes…’ the voice
echoed over and over again. ‘Where am
I?’ Jalise felt as if she were floating
in the air. She looked down and saw the
flower house. ‘If I miss this
flight…’ ‘Wow…it’s beautiful…’ She saw
her and her friend being thrown in different directions by an unknown
force. ‘Jalise!’ Jalise shook her head
and screamed. ‘Nooooo! Dawn!’
Jalise
tried to open her eyes, but the brightness of the light was too much. From outside of her room door, Duo, Trowa,
and Sally sat in the office. Duo looked
through the small window of the office to the small recovery room. He saw Jalise finger’s twitch.
“Looks
like she’s waking up.”
“Did
you find out what her name is,” Trowa asked.
“Luckily
she had her bag with her. In it I found
a great deal of ID in it. It also looks
as if she were about to go on some kind of trip. She had plane tickets with her.”
Sally turned from the computer and walked towards the glass pane. “Her name is Jalise Dales. She’s the same age as you guys are and she
was born in the year 3177AD…”
“AD?” Duo stared through the glass windowpane at
the stirring figure. “You mean…”
“She
wasn’t born during this era you guys.
Her time would most likely be our past.
Though I’m not sure. The
scientists that brought her here would know for sure.”
“What
happened to the lab,” Trowa asked from his seat.
“Well,
three days ago it all happened. They
still have the lab but they can’t use the machine anymore. It’s been destroyed.”
“So
what will you tell her,” Trowa asked.
They looked at Jalise now awake.
“We
tell her the truth,” Sally finished.
She walked towards the door that joined the two rooms and opened it.
Jalise
stared at the ceiling for a good five minutes before she realized where she
was. ‘In a hospital? But how?’ She turned her head to her right and saw a
window not too far from the bed.
Outside she could see the clear blue sky with few clouds here and there. ‘I
wonder where Dawn is…’
“Well,
somebody’s wide awake.” Jalise snapped
her head in the direction of the voice.
She saw a handsome man with a very long braid approach her bedside. Behind him was another, but slightly taller,
had green eyes…well at east one of them were green. His hair covered the other. And next to him was a pretty woman with blonde hair in two braids
and blue eyes that showed concern.
Jalise shakily sat up and looked at the three strangers.
“Where
am I?”
“You’re
in the Preventer’s Medical lab. You had
an accident,” Sally answered.
‘Preventer’s…lab?
And what accident?’ Jalise
shook her head slightly. “What lab and
what accident are you talking about? I
was supposed to catch a flight to New York…”
“Well
you were at the wrong place at the wrong time when it all happened-“
“When
what happened? I was with Dawn looking
at Red Peonies when there was…” her voice trailed off as everything came back
to her. ‘Now I remember. I was with
Dawn in the flower house when there was a big blast and I was…’ She looked
up at the others staring at her. “I was
with Dawn when the blast came. I…I
remember being thrown back and hearing my name…” she looked at Sally. “Where is she? Is Dawn okay?”
Duo’s
jaw tightened, Trowa’s face showed no signs of emotion but he felt for her, and
Sally tried not to cry. “Dawn’s not
here,” she answered.
Jalise
tried not to have a breakdown.
“Wha-…what do you mean sh-she’s not here?” Jalise stuttered. Duo looked away, Trowa took a seat at the
other end of the room by the main door and Sally sat next to Jalise. Blue eyes meet the lightest shade of
amber. Sally stared into her eyes. ‘It’s
as if they’re lined with a thin line of gold…’ Sally blinked and answered
her. “Dawn…isn’t with you.”
“Is
she…”
“We
don’t know if she’s dead or not. We
don’t even know what affect the blast had on the flower house.”
By
now Jalise was confused. She looked at
the other two occupants and then back at Sally. “What do you mean you don’t know? You have to know something.”
Sally
got up and walked to the office. Jalise
looked on with disbelief and confusion.
‘What the hell is she talking
about?’ Sally re-entered with a
calendar. She handed it to Jalise. “What’s this?”
“Take
a look at it. Maybe it will answer most
of your questions.”
Jalise
looked at it and saw the month. ‘April…April! Since when? How long was
I asleep? It was June the last time I
checked…’ “Is this the right
month,” she asked.
“Yes
it is.”
Jalise
shook her head. “It can’t be. What year…” her voice trailed off at the
year. “A…C…2...0...4…” She looked
completely confused. “What the hell
does that mean,” she asked above a whisper.
“It
means ‘After Colony’. The 204-” Trowa
was interrupted by the sound of the calendar falling to the floor.
Jalise
stood up and walked to the window.
Outside, things looked the same…very much the same. “It was 3201 AD…” She began to sob. “I was supposed to meet my family for a
small reunion. I just received my
masters…” She fell to her knees and began to cry. “I’m not home…” she whispered as tears fell steadily down her
cheeks. Sally walked over to her and
kneeled down besides her, pulling her in a comforting embrace.
“It’s
okay…everything will be okay…” Sally whispered. Jalise shook her head and pushed Sally away from her. “No it won’t. I have no place to go.
How did I get here? Why…what
happened?” She stood up and glared down
at Sally. Trowa and Duo were already
nearby helping her up. “Listen Jalise-“
“My
name…how’d you know my name?”
“I
saw it on your driver’s license. Look
calm down and we can explain everything to you-“
“Explain
what…” she looked at Sally’s ID tag.
“…Ms. Po? Explain what?”
“A
few scientists were doing an experiment and you got in the way,” Sally began.
“What?”
“You
might want to have a seat,” Trowa said.
“Or
do I have to hold you down,” Duo remarked.
“There’s
no need for that you two.” Sally turned
to the angry, teary-eyed woman. “The
scientist were capable of traveling through time and bringing things back to
the present by ‘zapping’ them here. One
of the scientists found what he was looking for and the computer accidentally
picked you up.”
Jalise
gave an exasperated laugh.
“Accidentally…” she shook her head and more tears came. “I don’t believe it.”
“So
you’re saying it was intentional,” Duo remarked.
Jalise
began to laugh, but it wasn’t a joyful laugh.
It was a sorrowful laugh. “No,
you braided fool…no” she pushed past them and ran out the door.
“Jalise
wait a minute. You can’t leave!” Sally
yelled. “We have to stop her. Trowa, call for help. Duo come with me.” Trowa nodded and Duo ran with Sally.
When
they reached the hallway, she was down the hall. “Someone stop her!
Jalise, stop!” Sally
yelled. Jalise picked up the pace,
pushing people out of the way. When she
reached the front door, she was met with a rush of cool air. ‘Its
April…I almost forgot.’ This made
her pick up the speed and more tears fell.
Lady Une came out of her office once she heard the yelling. “What’s going…Oof!” Sally and Duo ran right into her, falling to
the floor.
When
they stood up, Trowa and Hilde ran up to them.
“I heard you needed help,” Hilde voiced.
“She’s
already out the door. Tell whoever is
out there to find a female about Relena’s height, long sandy brown hair with
bronze streaks, amber eyes, light blue jeans and a lavender shirt. She’s on foot and she can’t get that
far.”
Hilde
shook her head and went right to it.
Lady Une turned to Sally. “Does
it have to do with the lab incident that happened a few days ago?” Sally shook her head.
“Well
what happened?”
“Sometimes
the truth just hurts and you need to be alone,” Trowa answered as he stared at
the officers running out of the door carrying out their order.
If it was short…I apologize, but 4 pages is a bit long to me don’t ya think? Well now, let’s see…Jalise went a bit wacky there…Relena shows up soon *begins to back away into a corner*…don’t egg me, she’ll be there and…just read on and see. Reviews people. Tell me what’s on your mind ^_^
Muchas gracias!
