Chapter I

By Lady Minya

The figure groaned slightly, but was still knocked out.  Professor Kenneth Ward grabbed the side of the control panel and used it for support to stand up.  He looked around and saw that the place was a mess.  It looked as if a tornado came through.  It was a bit smoky, but the automatic air vents was already working on its job (sucking the smoke out).  Emergency lights were on, giving the room a comfortable glow of yellow and red in such a hectic atmosphere.

Professor Dean stood up, as did the others, and checked to see if each and every one of them were okay.  After getting positive results he looked towards the glass dome, which was still in tack.  The receiver was in tack, but the transfer was destroyed beyond recognition.  Inside of it were the flowers he wanted, and a young woman.  Kenneth pushed the emergency switch and the dome detached itself from its base.  After it was at a reasonable height, he carefully removed the woman from the base and kneeled down on the floor.  He set her down gently and took of his lab coat and placed it on her.  He looked up to see the others standing there staring.

“Well, does anybody have any suggestions?”  He asked.  He looked towards the domes and saw that there was a problem.  The he looked down at the sleeping form.  A light skinned woman, with long sandy brown hair with bronze streaks, lay asleep on the floor…far away from home.  “We can’t send her back, that’s for sure,” Professor Damen Wills responded from across the room.  “Her ticket home has been completely destroyed.”

“But it can be fixed,” Dean said nervously.  Grunts and small chuckles were heard from the other five.  “Yeah, sure Dean.  That would be a miracle.”  Damen walked over to Kenneth and kneeled down besides him.  Kenneth was checking her pulse.  Is she…”

Kenneth nodded.  “She’s still alive.  Her pulse is steady and so is her breathing.  But…”

He placed one of the woman’s arms around his neck and slipped an arm behind her back, the other underneath her legs and picked her up.  “We still should get her some medical attention.  We don’t know what happened before she came here.”

“Right, but are you sure you want this to be publicized,” Professor Donte Morris questioned.  Kenneth looked down at the sleeping beauty.  “No.  But I know someone that would be willing to help and keep this on the down low.”

Sally Po stood in front of the door and waited for Kenneth to answer it.  A few moments later, he opened the door and quickly ushered her in.  After he closed the door, “Okay Ken, why’d you have me rush over here at such a time?  I was busy working on a patient at-” Kenneth hushed her.  “Listen to me Sally.  Dean was banned from using his machine unless he had permission; yes we all know that.  He had permission to get the red peony but he ended up with something else that-“

“Again,” Sally interrupted.  “What’d he bring now, a human eating plant monster?”

“No, Sally just listen.  He was aiming for a Red Peony, and ended up with this…” He motioned for her to follow him to his room and there on the bed lay a…

“A woman!  From where…but how…I thought it was only programmed to get plants?”

“Yes it was.  He got the flower, but she came along with it.”  Sally approached the bed and placed her med.-bag onto the night table.  “Do you know what her current condition is?”

“No.”

Sally nodded and proceeded with the examination.  Seeing that she’d need to be alone, Kenneth left the room and contacted the others at the lab.  He punched in the number to the vidphone and Donte’s face appeared.  “Yes Kenny, what can I do for you?”

“What’s going on so far?”

“Well, the Preventer’s division in this colony literally heard the explosion and sent a few people over.”

“Ooo.  What’d they do to Dean?”

“Well, Lady Une’s scheduled a meeting with him and the representatives of this colony for next Saturday.  The lab is closed though.  I don’t know if they plan on shutting it down.  Nobody else got hurt and how’s our flower?”

Kenneth smiled and looked toward the bedroom door.  “Right now Sally’s doing her job.  I’ll let you know as soon as she’s finished.”

“Call me on my cell.  I won’t be here after I hang up.”

“Okay.  Tell the others not to leave poor Dean hangin’”

“He’s 38 years old, as the rest of us.  He can take care of himself.  I’m going to the HQ to try and get a little mercy from Lady Une.”

“Thinking ahead,” Kenneth responded with a smile.

“You know me.  Later.”

The communication disconnected and Kenneth plopped down on his couch.  ‘I guess bringing her here was better than my frequently visited and very occupied house…’ Kenneth decided that his vacation home was better than the busy one.  Besides, what would my wife think?’  He chuckled and walked into the kitchen to get a cold glass of orange juice.

Sally sighed and sat on the bed.  Her new patient was very healthy, but was unconscious.  Sally had to do something to make sure that this woman was going to see another day without any worries.  ‘But should we even risk it?  She’s not even from this time.  Oh Dean, what did you do?

Sally mad her way to the diningroom and found Kenneth staring out the window.

“She’s unconscious at the moment.  I would like to take her in and keep her under close surveillance just in case.”  Kenneth snapped out of his daydream and stood up.  “We can’t send her back home Sally.  You’re going to have to tell her that when she comes around.”

“I think she’d want to hear that from those responsible.”

“I understand that, but she’ll have to be given a place to stay, etc., etc.”

“That will be taken care of…once I go back to headquarters on earth.  I’m leaving this evening at ten-thirty.  I’ll call for some help so I can-“

“We can’t let this get out into the public at all Sally…”

“And we can’t keep her locked up.”

“Look we don’t even know if she’s dangerous or not.”

“You leave that for us to decide professor.  If your colleague followed simple instructions then you wouldn’t be in this position.”  Sally walked out of the diningroom and out the front door.  She walked to her car and dialed on the car phone.  “Noin I’m going to need you to come to Waver’s Drive and Bakers Lane to help me out a bit.”

“Which house is it?”

“It’s the third house from the corner.  We have a flight to catch and this is very important.”

“I’m on my way.”

Sally hung up the phone and sat back in her seat.  What are we going to do with her?’

That’s chapter 2…three is right behind it.  Now about the lab…I had no idea on what I was talking about…metal rods…electricity…yada…yada…and yackety-yack.  Mail people.  Mail me.  Okay the thing about Relena and Heero…*laughs evilly* hehehe…you’ll find out sooner or later.
