Chapter 1

                               By Lady Minya

Screeching car tires could be heard as he sped towards the Peacecraft mansion.  He stopped abruptly at the gate, jumped out of the car, and forced the automatic gates opened.

Not even waiting for Pagan to open the door, Heero pushed past him and headed for the stairs to her room.  But before he reached the landing,  “It’s about time you got here.  She’s been calling your name ever since Pagan found her,” Trowa responded from the nearby living room.  Heero turned towards Trowa.  “What happened?”

“She was attacked last night.  We don’t know by who and we couldn’t get anything else from her…” Trowa walked up to Heero and placed a firm hand on his shoulder.  “Whatever you plan on doing, I hope it’s for the better.  She’s not in stable condition Heero.”  Trowa removed his hand from Heero’s shoulder and plunged it into the depths of his uniform.  “It’s as if…she’s a frightened child.”

Heero nodded and dashed up the steps, and was met by an icy stare…cold enough to send a shiver down someone spine.  It almost did, but it didn’t.  “Zechs.”  Zechs stared at the former pilot and began to walk past him, but stopped at his side.  “Yuy…” was all Zechs said.  But that single mention of his last name said a whole lot.  Heero gave a slight nod and Zechs continued down the stairs.

As Heero approached Relena’s room, thoughts began to run through his mind.  ‘Who could’ve done this?  Did she receive my letter?  What happened?’   So much was going through his mind that he didn’t even realize that he was staring at her room door.  On the other side, he could hear someone sobbing and calling his name.  It was very faint, and if anyone were to walk by, they wouldn’t hear her.  He turns the knob slowly and pushed the door open, peering inside.  Her room was lacking everything it used to have when he would stop by.  When you used to stop by…’ he thought.

Closing the door behind him, he called to her softly.  “Relena…” He only received her soft sobs and her repeating his name.  He looked towards the canopy bed and saw Relena hugging her knees, rocking slightly back and forth like a child would if he or she were lost.  He moved the sheer curtain out of the way and sat in front of her.  He looked into her wet eyes, and noticed that she did look lost.  ‘Relena…what did he do to you?  “Relena…it’s me.”

“Heero…Heero where are you…Heero…Heero where are you.”  She kept repeating it over and over again, as if she were chanting.  Heero moved her bangs out of her face and wiped some of her tears.  “Relena,” he said with a bit more force.  “It’s me, Heero.”  She continued to rock back and forth, staring out into space.  Heero pushed himself further onto the bed and sat directly in front of her.  He made eye contact and waited for her to snap out of it.

Amazingly, Relena stopped chanting, but continued to sob and rock back and forth.  Heero sat there and thought about holding her to make her stop…but he didn’t know if that was what he should do.  He reached out and cupped her cheek.  She shut her eyes tight and begged that he wouldn’t do it again.  Do what…again,’ Heero thought as he watched her tremble with fear.  “Relena stop it.  It’s me He-…”

“Heero please help me, please,” she whispered softly.  Heero grabbed both her shoulders causing her eyes to flutter open.  “Look at me Relena.”  She did.  “I would never hurt you.”  Relena blinked and stared blankly at the man in front of her.  “Heero?”  “Yes it’s me, Heero.”  Relena stared at the familiar Prussian blue eyes that she knew all too well.

“Heero…” Heero nodded and wiped her face.  “I’m here.”  Relena shook her head slightly and searched his face to make sure that it wasn’t an illusion.

Heero read her expression and pulled her into his arms and held her tight…held her close.  He gently stroked her hair and whispered softly to her.  “I’m here now Relena.  Everything is going to be okay.”  Relena closed her eyes and counted to ten, hoping that when she opened them this wouldn’t be a dream.  When she reopened them, she was standing, facing a muscular jawbone.  She looked up slightly and saw that it was Heero.  “Heero,” was all she said before she broke down into his arms.  He held her tighter, but it was a comfortable embrace.

“Heero I was so scared.  Where were you?  You didn’t tell me you were leaving,” she asked as she sobbed into his shirt.  “I was on a mission Relena.  But as soon as I heard about what happened, I aborted the mission and came straight here.  I sent you a letter explaining everything.”  Relena clutched his shirt and calmed her sobs down.  Heero relaxed his embrace a bit and looked down at her watery eyes.

“Three months ago I sent it to you.  Duo should’ve told you by now on top of that.  I thought you knew?”  Relena continued to stare at him and thought about it for a moment.

Then she began.  “Three months ago…I received nothing from you.  That morning, you were gone.  Duo was no where around, and nobody told me anything Heero…nobody.”

Heero held her by the shoulders and peered at her.  “Are you sure?”

“Yes I’m sure.”  She looked down.  Heero lifted her chin and looked into her eyes.  “Well I’m here now and I’m not leaving again.”  He gave her a soft kiss, but deepened it right after he made contact with her lips.  It’s been over four months since he last been with her.  But the way his tongue roamed around in her mouth, Relena could tell that he missed her, and she regret thinking that he was never going to return.  She regrets those thoughts she had the night before…the night before.  That arose new fear in her and she quickly pulled away.

Heero was a bit taken back by her reaction, but what Wufei told him only angered him.  Relena looked up at him and saw the flash of anger in his eyes.  He wasn’t looking at her, but past her.  But then redirected his attention back towards her.  “Heero, I’m sorry, I just…”

“Shh.  Right now, you need some rest.  We’ll talk later.”  But before he could leave, she grabbed his arms and held on for dear life.  “Stay until I fall asleep…Heero please?”

Without hesitating he nodded and walked her to her bed.  He pulled the sheets back and got in.  Relena climbed in and lay in his arms, resting her head on his chest listening to the soft beat of his heart.

AN* laughs nervously*…Well that was chapter numero uno.  Heero was on a very importante mission and what it was will be revealed in chapter to…I mean chapter 2.
