Now, this is interesting....

Fury, Part One
By: KLMeri

The waves rose ominously in the distance, looming above the sandy beaches like the shadow of death over the sick and wounded, watching...waiting to reclaim its lost. To the right, the water pelted the rocky cliff with swift and stinging lashes. The salty air seared the back of her throat with each slow and painful breath she took. Her fingers unfolded at her side, lightly touching the rough fabrix of her jeans only to quickly recoil at contact. They flexed for a moment, clawing at the air, nails moving sharply inwards her palm. Then all movement ceased.

She steeled her spine as a chilling wind lifted several strands of her hair. Her eyes lifted towards the darkening sky in anticipation. It's coming, she thought, the finality of her words driving relief into her system. Quickly flashing across the horizon, she let her senses anixously search for a sign of its presence. Her ears picked up the light sound of ringing bells in the town below. Quickening pace, her heart leapt as the sun slowly crawled out of sight.

Where is it? she questioned again and again to herself. "Where are you?!" Her eyes widened, and she stepped backwards. Her body tensed, hoping that no one had heard her. The scream had escaped her before she could control the raging impulse.

There's no more time to lose, she concluded, closing her eyes and uplifting her arms towards the heavens, palms facing outwards across the stormy ocean.

Come to me, she prayed silently. My dear one, arise! Here lies thy haven which was so brutally stolen from thee. Avenge your land!

"Kill the humans!"

The ground began to shake beneath her feet, and the seas churned fiercely. She let out a cry of joy as the cliff started to break apart under her. Her eyes filled with burning passion as she glanced back at the town, watching the tall buildings crumble to dust. A smile curved her lips as the Cinq Kingdom rumbled as the ground opened up beneath it and seemed to swallow the massive structure.

"And so the great pacifists fall once again," she whispered into the disturbed air. Suddenly, the rock her stood on give away, falling into the hungry waves. And her body plunged downwards with it. She felt the cold water envelope her, fill her mouth and lungs, and Relena was dragged into the murky depths of the ocean.

::cackles madly::

The second part to this odd story. I really have no idea where it is going.

Fury, Part Two

"The Cinq Kingdom is gone," he spoke, beginning a sense of closure to the conversation.

But loud murmurs echoed through the room, steadily growing noiser by the second. One man shot up in his seat, his angry face glowering at the elder sitting at the end of the long meeting table.

"You can't be serious! What are we supposed to do now?!"

"Who is going to lead us?" another man,Wilkins, cried out, roughly placing his gloved hands on table. A chorus of agreements filtered around the room. Building up courage, his tone quickly became demanding. "Without Relena Dorlian, this world is going to turn into chaos. I will ask again, Pearson," he ground through his clinched teeth, boring his eyes into the calm man. "Who is going to lead us?"

"I think the question, gentlemen, is why did the Cinq Kingdom fall," a low voice spoke, floating from a darkened corner of the room.

Wilkins jerked his head towards the sound in surprise. "How did you get in here?" he questioned, supressed fear lacing the edge of his voice. His hand reached down by his side, his long fingers wrapping around the handle of his gun.

"There is no need for that. What would Vice-Foreign Minister Dorlian say if she were here?" the stranger replied, stepping out of the shadows. He chuckled as the men recognized him, their eyes widening. "It has been a long time, gentlemen. Too long."

"Mr... Mr. Winner.." one man stumbled over his words in surprise.

Quatre bowed in response. Then he turned towards Wilkins again, his eyes watching the shaken man. And he repeated his question. "Why did the Cinq Kingdom fall?"

Wilkins narrowed his eyes. "Surely you know, Mr. Winner, as much as it has been on the news across the world and the colonies."

"You didn't answer my question," Quatre replied.

Wilkins huffed and opened his mouth to retort, but Pearson interrupted him. "Mr. Winner, it is a pleasure to see you here again. Your question is a good one. Our scientists have been working nonstop to find out the reason for this tragedy. The only answer they have been able to give us is that it was an powerful earthquake."

Quatre thinned his lips. "And is it a concidence that there were ten other earthquakes at the same moment? Ten more that destroyed cities on Earth?"

And silence filled the room once again.

END OF PART TWO

Interesting....

I really am not sure about this story. I'm not even thrilled about continuing it....

Fury, Part Three

He shivered as a chilly wind pierced his skin the moment he stepped off the helicopter. Burying his freezing fingers in his pockets, Quatre tilted his head towards the ground. His shoulders heaved in a great sigh.

Those fools, he silently commented to himself. His eyes shifted upwards to the gray sky. Then they found the distance horizon, and with it the empty spot where the majestic Cinq Kingdom had once stood, bold and captivating to the human eye. But only deep crack in the crust of the Earth remained now. Its roughness, the taunting shadows that played around its edge, repelled life itself.

This can't be an occurence of nature. He surveyed the rubble stretching for miles on end. It can't! His mind worked feverishly to find an answer that would soothe him.

Quatre felt a hollow stirring in his heart. It was as empty as the land around him, like his humanity had been ripped apart. Something was coming. He couldn't explain know it.

"Or maybe," he whispered suddenly, his head lifting heavenwards, breathing in the energized air, "it's already here."

****

He stood perfectly still. His silence added to weighty atmosphere surrounding him on all sides. The dampness of early morning hung in the air, tainting his sense of smell with a drunken state. The heaviness of everything pressed against his lungs, crushing them. However, his attention was elsewhere.

His eyes narrowed into thin, dangerous slits. Wrapping tightly around the handle, his long fingers tugged at the gun, pulling it to his side. He tapped it against his thigh in a slow rhythm. Memory after memory ran through his head. Her face, her voice, that sincere smile she had always given him.... Gritting his teeth, he spun on his heel, marching northwards.

The news had taken him by surprise. Not just him, the entire world held their breath. Earthquakes erupting across the globe, tearing through city after city. But he didn't really give a damn about that. An earthquake had left the Cinq Kingdom in ruins. The mightiest nation had fallen.

And she had been there.

His heart pounded in his chest as he stepped out of the forest. Sun hit the side of his face, scorching it thoroughly. Then his eyes caught sight of the land, and he staggered. All his breath escaped him and he was left with nothing.

Nothing but his dying hope of finding her. And Heero knew in that instant as he gazed upon the destroyed landmark of peace before him that all he could possibly find amongst these crushed dreams was Relena's dead body.

Wow....

Guess, I might continue this story after all....

Fury, Part Four

A shiver ran up his spine, tickling his nerves. Tensing, his body stood perfectly still for one moment in time. A twig crackeld on the ground behind him, and his heart and body leapt together, crashing and tumbling over each other. His mind worked quickly and he spun around to face the disturbance of his privacy.

"I'm sorry," a soft voice whispered. "I didn't mean to intrude..."

His clouded eyes sparkled briefly, and a smile lightly touched his lips. He shook his head, and turned back around to the horizon before him. His shoulders slumped forward a little as the glittering sunlight returned his mind to earlier troubles.

The light shuffling of dirt caught his ears' attention. A small hand came to rest on his shoulder comfortingly. He straightened and took a deep breath, his eyes flashing over the sky.

"Duo," her musical voice brushed past him, "I'm here."

He turned to the sweet sound, delicately removing her hand from his shoulder and cradling it with his own. A little blush decorated her pale cheeks, and he chuckled.

"I am glad you came," Duo told her. He moved towards her, embracing her tiny body against his own. "I don't know what I would do without you," he whispered into her ear.

She pulled away slightly and kissed his cheek in return. "I don't know what I would do without you either," Hilde replied.

His legs ached from the long, tiresome search. Heero stopped for a moment, gazing into the distance. Perhaps the soldier was searching for strength; or his strained heart might have begged for a little rest. Even he himself did not know exactly what he was doing. His trained mind calculated the odds, working through winding mazes of fact and fantasy. With most probability, she was dead. He understand that; however, accepting such a fate was not something he wanted to do.

His hand twitched, and Heero resumed his hunt. His ears captured each quiet crunch beneath his heavy boot, the sound of shattered glass grinding into the earth and clang of metal weighing heavily upon his mind. Briefly, a thought fluttered through his mind.

Dead screams reverbrated off his ear, explosions sounded about him--near, far, everywhere, and anywhere. The ground began to rattle, breaking apart, uplifting, caving in. Fire started to dance around his body, the smell of burning flesh filling his nostrils. Snapping to action, his legs moved slow and then faster and faster. Bodies littered his path, and he glanced down as he had the unmistakeable sound of bones snapping and grinding together. His eyes widen, his mouth agape in horror at a bloodless hand beneath his boot, the long slender fingers twisted with hanging clumps of stripped skin and muscle against white bone. And a silent gag worked its way through his body as he recognized a ring adorning a mangled finger. The connection instantly flashed in his brain: the Peacecraft ring.

With a lung, Heero grabbed the crushed hand, his fingers quickly searching for a pulse. Pressure revealed nothing. He jerked roughly at the arm hidden beneath rubble, his nails digging into skin, his muscles tighting. He pulled for all he was worth. A shoulder appeared, He dropped to his knees, his hands running along the sharp edge of a slab of concrete, latching into secure holds. He pushed upwards, visible fear etched into each line of his straining arms. Finally moved aside, the moon cast an eerie glow upon the pale body awaiting claim.

"Relena..." The word choked in his throat. Carefully, Heero bent over her still form, and lifted her into his arms. And the soldier sat alone admist chaos with Relena's headless body cradled against him. Slowly, slyly, and noiselessly, a white arm of his beloved snaked upwards behind his back, a shard of glass clutched in lifeless fingers poised and ready to strike.

Then the mourning Heero gasped, arching his back, as he felt his skin rip open.

"Heero!" He jerked.

"Heero! Over here!" A bead of sweat rolled down the side of his face, dropping to the ground and staining the brown soil.

"It's me!" His mind whirled in a thousand directions. Relena.... He slowly turned his stiffened body around.

"I am not surprised to see you here, Heero." Silence captured his heart. And Heero began to move forward, stopping after a few steps. He gazed at the face.

It was Quatre.

Fury, Part Five

"I am going with you, Duo."

He stopped his packing, and looked up at her solemn face. His heart wrenched for a moment. "You can't, Hilde."

"Yes I can!" She moved over to the side of the bed, and grasped his hand. "I want to be with you, Duo." He hesitated. Hilde moved in and leaned her head against his chest. "Don't leave me here."

Damn... Duo sighed and wrapped his arms around her. "Okay." Hilde pulled away and happily kissed him.

"Earth, here we come!"

****

"Are you alright?" Quatre's voice vibrated with concern.

Heero felt hollow. A sound filled his mouth, a tasteless noise that he held back. Pressing his lips tightly together, Heero choked down the scream. His eyes unfocused for a moment, and Quatre's outline seemed to reform.

~~~~
He could almost see Relena's dead body clearly again, overtaking his mind The harden skin was ghostly white, marred and burnt, to the point of over-cooked. Her body turned towards him, the neck craning as if the head were still there. A mangled arm slowly lifted, reaching out. Heero stared at the hand. The shard of glass was there again, inviting him, begging him let it touch and rip his skin. Heero took a step forward.
Relena... I need you.
His hand reached out, palm up. "Relena," he whispered hoarsely. He touched the edge of the cold glass, the sharpness biting into his fingers. "You're... alive." His fingers moved over the glass and touched the back of her hand, drops of blood staining his skin. One of his fingers slipped down an exposed bone, gracefully curling around it.
A tear dropped from his cheek, splashing onto the shard of glass and rolling off the end of it. Heero wrapped his other hand hers, the bones in her hand rolling together as he lightly squeezed it with affection.
"I thought you were dead," he whispered, the words bubbling in his throat. He tugged at her arm, and Relena's body drooped and then tumbled forward into Heero's arms. The glass swept down his side, the edge ripping a long gash in his skin. He easily dismissed the pain. He bowed his head, a little smile at the corner of his lips. Slowly, the smile was twisted into a manaical grin, and Heero chuckled deeply, his form trembling as he gathered the body closer against his chest.
"I've missed you, Relena."
~~~~~

"Heero, look at me!"

His eyes refocused. Heero looked disbelievingly at Quatre standing in front of him. His heart began to pound. No, he thought, his eyes flickering wildly. Where is she? Where is Relena?!

"Are you okay? Talk to me!" Quatre touched his shoulder.

Heero flinched at the coldness of Quatre's hand and shoved it away. He moved backwards, his gaze roaming the ground. A flash of light blinded him. Heero's eyes widened and he dropped to his knees. Quickly, his fingers grasped the treasure, and he turned it over in his palm.

Her ring...

Heero's head shot up, his glittering eyes fixing on Quatre. "Relena isn't dead."

And a faint nuance of charred flesh touched the air again.

She's alive...
