Fall Like Rain 

Wa-la! Part Eight. Whoo-hoo!

This one's a sonfic. My first. The song is "I'm So Curious" by Britney Spears. And is ANYONE makes fun of her I'm gonna ask Heero to hunt you down and show up at your door with that shiny black gun pointed in your face! Or if Heero doesn't want to cooperate, I'll come to your house and chock you!

And thanks to Vicky's Britney Spears' Site for the lyrics. I was too lazy to listen to it a million times and write the lyrics. Go visit! She has a great site!

And yep, this is the last part. Stop screaming already! There will be an Epilogue!

"Will he be okay Doctor?" asked Relena to the doctor.

"He'll be fine. The surgery went wonderfully. He should have a full recovery in two days."

"Thank you Doctor. May I see him?"

"No. He needs his rest."

"Please Doctor."

"I'm sorry, he must rest."

With a sign, Relena sat back down on the cold, plastic, waiting room chair.

It was so cold in here. Her entire body was shivering, trembling.

She cuddled herself into a little ball. Trying to keep her body heat inside her.

Milliardo came and sat next to her, hugging her. He draped a jacket over her body.

"Come on, cheer up. He'll be okay," Milliardo said in a small voice.

"I know. I'm just so… so scared for him," she said in a tiny voice.

Milliardo nodded.

"It's going to be a while before he wakes up. Why don't we go come and take a shower um? You're still stained with his blood."

"No, I want to stay here."

"Come on Relena. They won't let you see him. It's going to be a while before he wakes up."

"No."

"Come on."

"No."

Milliardo signed and left her alone.

Duo walked up to her and said, "So 'Lena what happened."

Milliardo suddenly got up and was furious.

"HOW DARE YOU ASK HER SOMETHING LIKE THAT RIGHT NOW! CAN'T YOU SEE THAT SHE'S UPSET YOU BRAIDED BAKA?!"

"Geez… I was just asking."

"No, Milliardo. It's okay. I'm all right. I can tell what happened," said Relena.

Milliardo's sudden outburst attracted the G boys & co. They all cowered around to listen to what happened.

Ow…

Where am I? Why is everything white? Oww… My head hurts.

Everything hurts.

Why is there an IV attached to my arm?

I must be in the hospital.

Where's Relena?!

"Re.. Relena…"

"Oh good, you're awake," said the nurse that's in the room. "The doctor will be here shortly.

"Relena."

"Who?"

"I want to see Relena."

"Okay, I'll go get her for you."

"He's awake. And he's asking to see a person named 'Relena,'" said the nurse.

"He's awake?!" everybody shouted at once.

"I'm Relena," said Relena. [A/N: ~giggle~]

Relena was almost bursting with joy when she heard Heero was up.

She was also very nervous. What would he say? What would he do?

She was so deep in thought, she didn't even notice that they had gone though five doorways, three halls, and an elevator.

She was snapped out of her thoughts by the nurse's voice.

"Here it is."

She pointed towards a plain white door that said 175.

"You have 30 minutes before visiting hours are over."

"Ok, thank you."

The nurse left and continued down the hallways, peaking inside the doors that had the service light on.

Guess this is it.

She slowly turned the bass knob. The door opened with a loud CRRREEEEEEEEK.

And there lay Heero. An IV in his arm.

He turned to look at her when she opened the door. His face was emotionless and serious has always. He was a little paler than usual.

His deep Prussian blue met her's. She thought she saw a hint of emotion behind them. But it was gone as quick as it appeared.

One would expect them to speak, but neither did. They just looked at each other.

Relena forgot to close the door.

"You should wash off the blood," said Heero breaking the silence.

What a stupid thing to say, 'You should wash off the blood.' You're starting to sound like Duo.

Relena was clueless of how to respond.

After several seconds she opened her mouth to speak, "Did you mean it? Did you mean it when you… said you love me?"

She said this in barely above a whisper, and yet those words seemed to be shouted out.

They danced inside his mind, picking him, mocking him

And he was torn trying to decide what to say. Should he say the truth and tell her yes? Or should he lie and say no so this annoying girl should leave him alone?

After a moment of silence he said, "Yes," in his usual emotionless tone.

A single tear of happiness leaked down leaked down Relena's cheeks.

"Hi ya buddy!"

Relena and Heero both jumped a little. Completely unaware that Duo had been listening the whole time. After all, Relena forgot to close the door.

And Duo just happened to have the perfect timing, like always.

Heero sneered at Duo.

"Uhh… I'm so sad," Duo paused and sniffed. "Heero doesn't want to see me!" And here is where Duo broke into a pretend cry.

"Shut up Duo," said Heero.

Duo cried even louder.

"He said SHUT UP!"

Hilde suddenly appeared and tugged on Duo's braid.

"OW! Let go!"

Just as sudden everybody appeared and had a good laugh.

Relena walked down the familiar hallways of the hospital.

Down towards Room 175.

She noticed the three hallways and the elevator, and yet she didn't notice it at all.

Her mind was somewhere else. In space maybe.

She was in deep thoughts about a special someone.

They were not on the all-day meeting she just attended. Nor were they on what the preventers where going to do with Marshall.

No, they were on Heero.

On how he confessed his love for her just yesterday. It was a miracle really. The Perfect Solider who had trouble admitting if he was hungry had just confessed his love for her.

She was still in shock.

She was also really looking forward to this little visit. Even though she had stayed up till one yesterday with him, it was now 8:00.

She barely stayed awake at her meeting. And if she didn't fall asleep, her mind wasn't there.

Her mind was where it usually was, somewhere in space thinking about him. But it was more un-focused than usual.

Speaking of un-focused, she didn't even know that she had bumped into the nurses' desk.

Quickly shaking out of it, she snapped back to attention.

"Um… nurse? May I visit Heero Yuy please?" she asked

"Yuy? He just checked out about 2 minutes ag-"

"He checked out?!"

"Yep, 2 minutes ago. Mentioned something about the bus stop and getting something called a Gundam…"

She didn't hear the rest of the sentence. She was running down the stairs, her mind into totally shock.

She bumped into a nurse carrying a tray, knocked her down on accident.

She was running, tears leaking out of her eyes. Flowing with the wind.

The tears blurred her vision. But she ran.

She needed to get to the bus stop.

She had to catch him.

She would not lose him again.

Would not.

The exit to the hospital seemed a mile away.

Her chest was grasping for breath now, her legs hurt.

And yet she would not stop. She wouldn't stop until she was dead.

She had just found him again, and today, he was gone like that.

Pushed those heavy doors, into the cool night.

It was really dark now.

And it was pouring.

It drenched her. The wet and cold liquid.

The little pink dress she had on was barely enough to keep her warm from the unexpected rain.

But she barely felt the rain. Her mind wasn't on her body.

She didn't care if she died right now.

Just as long as long as she got to see him one more time.

Oh Heero, you left me again. You didn't even say goodbye.

She flat out ran.

Completely unaware that her body was shivering and trembling, that she would hardly make out where she was going in the rain.

At last, in what seemed like forever, she could make out the little pole that had the bus stop sign.

And there leaning on it, was Heero.

She suddenly came to a stop. It was then she noticed that there was no one on the street 'kept them.

"Heero!" she shouted on the top off her lungs against the rain.

She stood there, about 10 feet away from him. Standing there, in the rain.

She moved her feet closer to him. Staring at his beautiful eyes, never breaking eye contact.

"What are you doing here?" he asked. There was a hint of… something behind those words. What was it? Love?

"I came to see you."

Pause.

He touched her hand, and then quickly let go.

"You're freezing."

"So...?"

Heero removed his already wet jacket and draped it on Relena. Surprisingly it was very warm, but too big for her.

"Thank you."

"Hn."

"You're leaving for another mission aren't you?"

"Uh-huh."

Relena practically cried more at these words. She could feel the tears come out off her eye, or was that the rain?

"Heero… Promise me this, please, that you'll come back to me?"

Moments of silence pass by where Heero won't even look at her.

Disappointed and torn, Relena turned around to leave.

Heero grabbed her wrist as she turned.

Surprised, she turned towards him, opened her mouth to say something, but Heero's mouth clamped down on her's.

They shared a deep, passionate kiss.

It lasted only seconds but seemed to stretch for a lifetime. Either wanted to break it, but had to when they came in for air.

Then he whispered in her ear, "I promise."

The bus came to a halt, Heero got on.

With one last look at her, he picked a seat and let it drive him away.

Relena stayed and watched it go until it was nothing but a dim blur.

Sad and crying, she turned to go.
