Disclaimers: If I owned them would be writing this? (And for those of you
who may not get it or far any evil lawyers who hate kids, I don't own GW its characters
etc.)
Relena looked at Hildie's image on the vidphone screen. "So you're sure you'll be
alright?"
Hildie gave a sad smile,
"I'll be fine. I have a sister who's coming to visit in a few days.
And," she sighed, "I loved Duo and he loved me. He hated it when I
frowned. He would hate it to know that he caused such a gloomy
expression." Hildie gave a much brighter
to the sky, for her lost love. But then her face shifted into one more solemn.
"Besides, you really shouldn't worry about me too much. I've got friends and
family to 'take care of me' plenty of support. Maybe..." the blue haired
girl laughed lightly, "You should 'worry' about Heero."
Relena choked, "he hasn't been found yet?"
"Nope, it's been a whole week since anyone's seen him. But just in case he
'pops up'" she winked.
"Hildie!"
Said lady put up her 'puppy dog eyes' (which she had learned from Duo)
"What?"
"Anyway, I doubt that there's anything I could do to find him. He's a
gundam pilot. If Heero doesn't want to be found, he simply won't be found.
"Oh, he'll turn up. Just wait and see."
"Right Hildie," Relena replied sarcastically.
"Bye."
Hildie smiled to herself. If there was anything
she knew about Heero Yuy it was that he was head over heels in love with Relena
Peacecraft. It was 'simply' a matter of time before
it was out in the open.
Relena sighed. 'Poor Hildie.' The young politician gazed
out the enormous window across from her lavish mahogany desk. Just a little
ways from her office was a beautiful park. She recalled some of her later 'experiences'
with the happy little couple when they hadn't planned to meet the interesting
pair would 'pop up' unexpectedly on nice days such as this one. They always
felt doing something with their favorite world leader. And of course Relena
would always protest that she had way too many things that had to be done
before
she actually go out and DO anything. But where Duo was involved, it was his way
or the high way. And that's
how every time Relena objected she STILL ended up having a great time in spite
of herself.
Even now she could still bring to mind her favorite instance of such an event.
It was a fall day just like this one. Relena had to shut the off-white drapes
that adorned her massive window to keep out the temptation of running out her
door. That entire day all Relena
had wanted to do was go outside and enjoy the day. It was almost impossible to
resist, but Relena had faired pretty well already. Then THEY showed up.
At the time she had been berried under stacks upon stacks of work that had been
piled up from several sick days. They had told her that they were bored and wanted
to hang out with their favorite politician. Relena of course told them that she
was exceedingly
busy and although she genuinely wanted to go with them, wherever they where
going, but couldn't. But Duo didn't believe her, so instead of arguing with
her, (which would have been a lost cause considering her current occupation) he
merely picked her up, tossed
her over his shoulder and continued out of her office like it was nothing. That
day Relena had more fun than she could remember. Hildie
and Duo had taken her to an Autumn festival in that very park. It was the
best.
Relena sighed it was a really nice day, and she didn't have too much work to
do... 'Hell with it.' Without farther thought Relena pushed the button to
her secretary. "Mrs. Stewart , I'll be taking the rest of the day
off." Relena grabbed her jacket and was off.
It was a beautiful fall day, cool and crisp, but not at all unpleasant. While
the past few days had been cold and dreary, they only made today better. Some
of the leaves had just begun to change and the rest were ready to fall. It was
a breathtaking collage of color,
that would make any painter or photographer smile. In fact Relena could have
sworn there were one or two of them as she strolled down the spiral paths of
the park. With a soft sigh she let all her troubles float away with the brisk
October wind. The young politician had been drifting for some time now and had
greeted all she passed. They had all been polite and it was evident that they
knew she out here to get away from
politics and had avoided that subject. It was nice.
She continued around to her favorite clearing. Relena hadn't been there in some
time, and she hoped it hadn't changed. Upon arriving Relena couldn't
believe
what she saw
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
At first Relena had look twice, just to be sure she hadn't gone crazy. But the
way that the hair was so wild, THAT was proof enough.
"Heero?"
The head nodded slightly.
She sat down next to him on the bench. "Heero, you look terrible! What
happened?"
Heero didn't answer, but inside, he was recalling what had happened this past
week. He had run. After he heard he had run and he hadn't stop till he fainted from
exhaustion. He hadn't eaten, nor had he slept, at least to his own knowledge.
He hadn't gone inside
either. He knew he was sick, but he hadn't done anything about it. It had
been hell the last few days. Heero had welcomed it with numb, but open arms. But
now, more so than ever, he could feel it in the ache of his body.
Relena sighed and looked away from him. "I figured I wouldn't get an
answer from you." She sighed once more, "Although I doubt you'll
except the old offer of a shoulder to cry on but. If you ever need a caring appendage
to lean on," she brushed the hair off the
shoulder next to him, "you can always use mine.
Heero looked at her coldly, nevertheless, his eyes softened soon. Why was it
she always had that effect on him? Her shoulder, clothed in a white wind
breaker looked, actually like a pillow. Soft and comforting.
It was to his knowledge that he could go on for a week without food or rest,
but towards the end of that week, he knew he got a little irrational. And
it was that exact quality, that exact ludicrousness that him losing control.
His subconscious was taking over, and before he knew it, and before she
believed it, Heero had his head on her shoulder and was fast asleep.
Relena was a little shocked, at first, then she gazed at his sleeping form. He
looked so peaceful. Although she hadn't intended for him to take her offer literally,
he did look.. Almost angelic. Absentmindedly she took his hand and placed on
her lap. As she weaved her fingers between his she thought, 'This shouldn't be
happening.' But one more, tiny glance at him and her features softened. 'I
think I can let him rest on me for a little bit. What'll it hurt?'
Relena closed her eyes and rested her head atop his. It was picturesque, the
two of them, with the changing leaves behind them, and the sun setting in
front.
