discovery

moment…just give me sometime and it’ll come to me)

Alaya scanned the
area for anything that looked suspicious.
“Hey mom, see
anything?” Jake called from the doorway
to the control room.
“Nope. Nothing here honey. Nothing but the stars and the
colonies.”
“Well, if we don’t
stop General Lee soon, he’ll destroy some of them to get what he wants,” Jason
replied.
Alaya smiled at her
youngest son. ‘Oh Jacob, how the hell did you get into
this. God help me.’
“Okay, let’s head
back to our designated colony for the rest of the night, until we leave
tomorrow morning,” Alaya stated.
But before they
made their way towards, colony cluster L1, a transmission from L3 came.
‘Strange…don’t
even know who it’s from…but how…’
The face on the
vid–screen answered her question.
“Well hello Ms.
Dean. Or should I say Mrs. Brown?”
Alaya looked up and
gasped. “General Lee.”

Mr. Brown walked to
his suite eager to call earth and check on his baby girl.
‘This
is becoming very tiring. He’s got all
of this planned out…and if nothing is done right away, Relena will no longer be
Vice Foreign Minister.’
Duane sat in front
of his vid-phone and dialed in his home number.
‘I could’ve stopped his plans when I met him
eight years ago…but with the Gundam pilots around, who would’ve bothered.’
After a few moments, Desaunya
answered the call.
His facial expression went from thoughtful to surprised.
‘Trent’s ex-girl friend? What the hell is she doing there? I thought they broke up long time ago.’
“Hey Mr. Brown. How are you?”
“I’m fine
honey. And you?”
“Doing well. I’m here with Melody, since nobody else is
home to watch her.”
‘Melody’s
by herself? Where’s Jake? And Trent?’
“Nobody’s there?”
“No. Trent was called in…”
She trailed off and
went into thought.
‘I do miss him. His touch…his voice… his…’
“Are you still
there, Desaunya?”
Desaunya blinked
her eyes and smiled.
“Oh I’m sorry,
sir. I was just thinking…that’s
all. Melody told me that Jake left
after her mother did, and that Trent was called in.”
“I see.”
Duane sat and
thought about it.
‘Jake is always getting into trouble. I think boot camp will be the topic of
discussion as soon as we all get back.’
He smiled at his
thought and asked to speak with Melody.
Five minutes
later….
“Daddy! I miss you so much!”
Melody jumped onto
Desaunya’s lap and gave her father a big smile.
“There’s my little
girl. Are we behaving ourselves?”
“Yes. Guess what?”
“What?”
“Renée’s taking me
to the circus tomorrow,” Melody chirped in, as she shifted her position,
causing Desaunya to allow Mel to sit in the chair by herself. She decided to stand beside her and listen.
“Oh is that so?”
“Yep. Since nobody’s here and Trent promised me,
she said she would.”
‘I could’ve taken her.’ Desaunya thought.
“But what about
Desaunya, sweety? She watching you now,
isn’t she? I’m sure Renée’s awfully
busy. And she’s always taking you out.”
“Yeah I know…but
Trent is supposed to come in tomorrow, and I’m sure Desaunya would like to stay
and talk with him without me interfering.”
‘Well, the brat sure does have a point. But still…’
“Okay Mel. Look, when you see Renée, tell her that I’ll
give her a call, okay? And tell your
brother that I’ll call him later in the evening tomorrow when I arrive on
earth.”
Melody’s face lit
up.
“You’re coming back
tomorrow! Yay! I can’t wait to see you, daddy.”
“Me too dear. Now I’ll talk to all of you tomorrow, okay?”
“Okay, Daddy.”
“Bye Mel.”
“Its never ‘bye’,
dad. It’s ‘I’ll see you later’…k?”
Duane gave his
daughter a smile.
“I’ll see you
tomorrow.”
“That’s
better. Mwuah.”
She blew a kiss to
her father and he blew one back. Then
he hung up.

“Very touchy, Duane.” Duane spun around in his chair to see an old
comrade…Calvin Blaine.
“What do you want.”
Calvin walked over
to the bed and took a seat.
“Ah, nothing
really. Just can’t come and say hi to
an old friend, huh?”
Duane sat back in
his chair and turned it so it completely faced Calvin.
“What do you and
General Lee want?”
“Oh how ever did
you know?”
“Why else would you
be here?”
Calvin got up and
walked towards the liquor cabinet and poured himself a drink.
“A drink, Lieuten…”
“No thanks Calvin. Just get on with it,” Duane replied, a bit
agitated.
“We need the…”
“No, colonel. Besides I don’t even know what they are.”
Calvin smiled and
sat at the table, not too far from his desk.
“Well, you may not
know…but we already know who does. This
just confirms our…hmm...what’s the word?”
Duane glared at
Calvin.
“What the hell are
you talking about, Calvin?”
“We know who knows
what the codes are, Duane. And we will
get them ASAP.”
“Who?”
“You sure you want
to know? I didn’t think you’d be interested?”
“Colonel…”
“You’re wife.”
