Relena sighed as she rode the bus
back to the Mizurei temple/house.
"That was a long day." Hilde groaned,
stretching.
"Too long." Relena agreed.
"Oh well, we're almost back home
anyway."
"Who's making dinner?"
"I think Midii is."
"Good. I like it
when she makes dinner. She doesn't try to poison everyone."
"Yeah, not like
any of the boys."
"Agreed."
After the bus ride and the walk back home,
most of the boys went up to their
rooms and the girls stayed downstairs.
Relena stretched and slid her shoes
off, walking into the corridor.
"Mizurei-sama?" She called quietly. She slid the door open to the living
room.
"Sumimasen, Mizurei-sa-" She stopped short. At the table, sitting
zen-style
across from Mr. Mizurei were the four transfer students. Relena
blinked.
"Nani. . .?"
Mulan giggled and flashed the peace sign.
"I
hope you don't mind two more!"
Mr. Mizurei smiled at Relena. "How was your
day at school?" He was a a short,
elderly man with gray-white hair and he
was always very kind to them.
"It was fine, arigatou gozaimasu. . ." Relena
continued to stare at the girls.
"Oh, sumimasen, this is Miaki and Mulan,
and that is Leun and Matthew. The
school called and said they needed a place
to board. The St. Joseph church
house was obviously a bit too far away for
them to commute." Mr. Mizurei
explained.
"Oh, I see." Relena responded.
Mulan smiled. "Hope it doesn't get too crowded!" She said energetically.
Miaki laughed. "I'm happy to be here."
Mulan smiled again. "Hai, watashi
mo!"
Leun just nodded at her.
Matty cringed at the sound of his full
name.
Relena laughed. It was impossible not to become friends with them.
They were
so nice and energetic.
"Nice to have you here with us!"
"Well, we already know where our rooms are, so I guess all we need to do is
our homework."
"Well, if you want-" Relena started, but she was
interrupted by a knock at
the door.
"Konbonwa gozaimasu! Is anyone
home?" A voice called.
"Lillian-san?" Miaki called back, getting up.
A
young woman with lavender hair pulled into a ponytail with bangs falling in
front of her azure eyes came into the living room, smiling.
"Konbonwa
gozaimasu, Mizurei-san, Miaki, Mulan. Oh, and you too, Leun and
Matty."
"Ah, konbonwa, Lillian-san!" Mr. Mizurei said, standing up.
"Okay,
girls, getting settled okay?" Lillian asked.
Relena blinked. What was it
about Lillian that was so familiar?
"Excuse me, ma'am, but how old are you?"
"Oh, me? I'm 22. I'm the girl's agent from the shelter house." Lillian
smiled
at Relena before turning back to the girls.
"Okay, girls, we're
going to try to find you another shelter but for now here
will have to do."
It's her eyes, Relena thought staring at the girl's azure eyes.
Only two
people I know have those eyes, my brother and my. . .my niece,
my niece
Lillian!
Her newborn niece Lillian Adriana Peacecraft was
only six weeks old but
Relena had seen her enough to know her by heart. She
quietly walked out of
the living room, down the corridors and slid the door
closed to her own room.
Sitting down on her futon and taking out a picture
of her young niece, she
stared at the azure eyes, the short lavender hair,
the same color as the
agent's.
"Just what is going on here, I wonder?"
Mizurei temple, the living room.
"Leun, you call me onna one more
time and I swear to God I'll kick your butt
all the way back to China and up
the Great Wall, too!"
"I'd like to see you try, onna!"
"AAAUGH!
KISAMAAAAAAAAAAA!"
"Well, there they go again."
"Chapter 891 in the
Battle of the Chinese twins." Matty stated, rolling his
eyes.
Wufei
gritted his teeth.
"Mulan. Magnolia blossom. Leun. Kind soul."
"Wufei.
Total idiot." Duo added.
"WHAT DID YOU CALL ME, MAXWELL?!"
"Chapter 274
in the Battle of the Braided baka and the sword-wielding
sexist." Heero said
in a monotone voice. He was sitting on the floor on a
pillow and Relena was
laying next to him with her head in his lap and he was
absentmindedly
stroking her hair. Miaki was a few feet next to him reading a
book. Heero
noticed it was an ancient Japanese fairy tale which had been
restored and
rewritten. Heero looked at her.
"Are you Japanese?"
"Half. On my
father's side." Came the short reply. There was a giggle from
the kitchen
where Hilde, Midii and Dorothy were busy making dinner. Dorothy
heard all
the commotion and came out holding a fork. A very pointy fork.
"You four
better STOP THAT NOW!"
Quatre gulped and grinned nervously, sliding closer
to the ever-silent Trowa
who was reading a book. Dorothy giggled and walked
over to him, brushing his
bangs back and kissing him on the forehead.
"I
don't care how many times you say you got over our little 'incident.'" She
giggled and went back into the kitchen. Meanwhile, Mulan had taken away
Wufei's katana and had threatened to cut off Leun's hair which was about the
same length as Wufei's except he had bangs and gave the katana back to him.
"Thanks."
"Your welcome." He paused. "Your name's very beautiful. If I
ever had a
daughter I would name her Mulan."
She blushed. "You. .
.would?"
"What about your son?" Leun asked, staring into Wufei's gray eyes
with his
own.
"Leun. . .I wouldn't name my son that, but that onna,
Sally, likes that name
a lot."
"I betcha miss your girlfriend, huh,
Wuffie?"
"Duo, don't start."
"Alright. Sorry, Wufei."
"Ii-desu-yo."
"Besides, if you two woke up Relena I'd make sure to stick your braid and
your katana where the sun doesn't shine. She's here to get some rest and
relaxation, and she doesn't need your constant fighting." Heero said, gently
picking Relena up off the floor and walking into the hallway to her room.
He gently set her down on her futon, brushing the stray hair from her
forehead.
"Sometimes I wish I could say it more to you" he whispered,
knowing good and
well that she was asleep. That was the only time he could
talk to her, when
she was asleep. She listened to his every word. Not that
she didn't when she
was awake, but for some reason he could only talk to her
when she was
sleeping. He sighed, running his hands through his hair and
letting the
shimmery, flaxen strands fall between his fingers. He loved
everything about
her, the way her body fit perfectly against his, the way
her skin felt like
silk underneath his hands, the way she dried the only
tear he ever shed over
his past.
"Sometimes I don't know how to act
around the guys, and this 'emotion' and
'love' thing is new to me. I know
that's no excuse, but I still hope. . ." He
sighed, his voice trailing off.
"You'll find happiness someday, Relena. If it's me or if it's some other
man." He brushed her bangs back and kissed her on the forehead. This time
her
arms drifted up and linked themselves around his neck.
"Relena. . .?
You were. . .?" She gently pulled him down onto the futon and
snuggled
against him, leaning her head into his shoulder.
"Heero, I don't care how
many times you say it, you said it once and I know
that you mean it. Also,
little things like this," She whispered, gently
kissing his forehead, "mean
a lot. I know that you care for me and that you
love me just as much as I
love you. And I could never, ever be happy with
anyone else but you."
".
. ." Heero didn't say anything but pulled her into a tight embrace,
wrapping
his arms around her slim figure. Instantly, he held her tighter,
more
roughly, like a soldier would hold a captive.
"Miruna. . .and you can
save yourself from the consequences. . ." his hands
were sliding up her
shirt, running over her tensed muscles.
"I don't care. . .what the
'consequences' are. . ." she breathed, her warm
breath flowing down his
neck.
His hold on her relaxed and she closed her eyes.
"All I know is
that. . .I love you. . .and that I never want to leave your
side. . .for as
long as I live. . ." Her whole body relaxed and Heero knew
she had drifted
back into sleep. He laid his head on top of hers and closed
his eyes.
Atashi ai wa. . .and there will be a day, when every morning I'll look
into
your eyes and I'll say that to you. . .I just hope that you will give
me
time, Relena.
His last conscious thought was of her before sleep
claimed him, quicker than
usual from the warm and safe feeling of being in
her arms.
Miaki looked up from her book at the doorframe of the hallway
Heero and
Relena had disappeared into. After five minutes she knew that
Heero wasn't
coming out of her room. She smirked and continued to read.
Oh, the irony of this thing they call love. . .
