Title:  Finding Somewhere
Part:  Four

Flashback:

The woman cradled the baby lovingly.
She had been through a lot.  She had stared death squarely in the eye. She had felt the worst kind of heartbreaks.  But she had survived.
 And now she had this.
The little girl cooed, purring into her mother's chest.  The woman giggled at this.  Oh, yes, she was a beautiful thing.  She had her father's eyes and hair, but she had her dimples.  The woman smoothed down her thin copper hair with affection, smiling from ear to ear.
Oh, yes, the woman had been through quite a lot.  But now it was done. Now she could keep her head raised to the future.  Now she could live.
And let those that ever harmed her beautiful, charming daughter - let them fear her name!

"So Heero Yuy will be leaving shortly?" inquired Milliard Peacecraft.
Noin nodded to him on the other side of the vid link. "Yes.  He will arrive for the testing within a week, sir."
"That's good."  Milliard paused, his eyes studying his dear friend Noin thoroughly. "How is Relena with his visit?" he asked quietly.
 "As well as expected, Milliard."
 "Understood.  Thank you."
"You know I always enjoy working with you." Noin reminded him with a grin.  Milliard returned one of his own, and then signed off with a click.

Well.  Here it was again.  She cursed herself silently.  So damned stupid!  Too gullible.  That's what she was.  Gullible.  Always letting men play with her emotions.
She felt for him again.  After it had taken so many year to get rid of that awful feeling, that feeling that seemed to ear at her being.  And now he would leave her.  And she would see him in another ten years, and it would start all over again.
She sucked in her breath, shifting awkwardly on her chair.  Her eyes briefly passed over her steaming coffee, and her various paperwork.
"Meow."  A very demanding kitty purred below her.  Relena smiled warmly and turned in her seat to face Tiger the cat.
"How ya dong there, buddy?" she asked him, taking him into her lap.  "Want a good petting?"  Relena stroked the feline lovingly, and the cat responded with a deep purr. "There you go.  That hits the spot, now doesn't it?"
Another hand reached down then, rubbing the cat along with Relena. Relena felt her pulse quicken.
 "He's cute." Observed Heero quietly.
 Relena nodded wordlessly.
"I'm going to leave for the suit test." He said then, not quite aware of the hurt in the air.  He began to lift his hand away, but stopped as Relena grabbed it forcefully.
"So you're leaving?" she asked, gripping his hand tightly.
 Heero nodded. "Yes."
"Okay."  Relena dropped his hand.  For a moment there was complete silence.  Then Heero's steps filled the room and down the corridor, leaving Relena more alone than ever.

Beautiful garden.  It was certainly a beautiful garden.  Rose and the others took such good care of it.
Now Relena was walking in that very garden, listening intently to her footsteps beat against the ground.  There was a warm perfume sifting through the air - that of roses and daisies and all that dwells in a garden as fine as this one.
She lifted her head up to the bright sunshine, relishing the cool breeze that caressed her hair and cheek.  Her eyes fluttered close with the peace of the moment.  For a moment she stood this way - until she dimly realized that she couldn't stand this way forever.
Her eyes opened, and she let out a little gasp.  The young man only a couple feet away eyed her with concern.  Then he reached out his hand to her.
"Hello.  My name is Heero Yuy.  What is yours?" He said firmly.
Relena stared at the hand, unbelieving.  Then she smiled warmly. "My name," she told him, accepting his hand, "Is Relena Peacecraft.  And why aren't you flying away right now, Yuy?"
Heero shrugged. "I like it here."

Flashback:

The young man frowned.  Where to now?
The train station was dark, as was the night, and he knew that it must be late.  But the train board did not seem willing to answer his question.  And until he found some form of an answer, he was lost.
He sucked in his breath heavily.  Brooksville?  Maybe.  Johannesburg? No.  Easton?  Yes, possibly -
"Where are you headed to, young man?" inquired a voice behind him.
The young man turned to see an old man, his back bent with age and his hair whitened with wisdom.  The man stared questioningly back at Heero.
"You seem lost.  Where are you going?"
 "I don't know."
The older one laughed with a big guffaw. "That might be why you have a problem!  Do you know where you want to go?"
The young cocked an eyebrow. "No.  Or I would go there." He replied with a cold tone.
The older man noticed the tone, and recognized it with a smirk. "Eh? Well I guess it's none of my business, as my old mum used to say!  I'll leave you to your business, and you'll get there right as rain."
"Hn?"  What nonsense was this ancient fool talking?
"Well you all get somewhere, don't you?  Yes, they all get somewhere."

Authoresses Last, Last Word:  There.  I'm finished, unless I decide to have a prologue, but I don't think so.  Sorry for it being so short. And so confusing.  Ah, well.  If you read this far, then clearly you deserved an odd ending like that.  I hope you like the flashbacks.  I tried to make them good, but I don't know if it worked.  In any case, I will shut up now so you can read all the other great fan fics!
