Falling Apart; Chapter
3
A blinding light was what Relena was greeted with in the morning. She squinted as her eyes adjusted to the light. Four shiny faces appeared before her. Especially with the one with a brown braid. Who are they?
"Good morning," the girls on the right side greeted, a man with brown hair just nodded and the braid boy looked just way too hyper for her.
"Hi Jousan! I knew you’d wake up! I never lost faith in you!" the braided boy exclaimed jumping up and down in his seat.
"Who are you?" she asked shyly and feeling embarrassed for not knowing their names. Pure shock was written on their faces, even the braid boy.
"Do you think it's possible?" one of the girls asked talking to the other.
"Amnesia?" the girl with the blue hair affirmed in a form of a question. She was really getting tired of all these people showing up and not telling her their names, especially that guy the other night. All of them started to apologize and introduced themselves as Hilde, Catherine, Trowa, and Duo. They had informed Dr. Po that she couldn’t remember one thing, even about someone named ‘Heero’. She had learnt that her full name was Relena Peacecraft and those people were her closest friends. She looked at the table by her and noticed a brown bear with a red ribbon on it. She knew it wasn’t there the day before, one of her ‘friends’ must have placed it there for her. She picked the bear up and saw a card, it said:
Lena,
I’ll be there for you, always.
The card wasn’t signed, she thought that the letter was short, simple, but meaningful. She made a vow to always keep this bear with her, so whoever sent her that gift will know that she was thankful for those words. She looked at the bear over again, it too was familiar, but she just couldn’t pinpoint what the memory was or what the bear had symbolized. ‘Hilde’ her ‘best friend’ always stayed by her side talking to her about other subjects that she’d know than the memories and the person she didn’t know before. It was very kind of her and the ‘Duo’ was always cheering her up with his humorous jokes and pranks.
Relena than was grateful that she did have a piece of her past, and that was her friends. When Relena was released, she was sent home with a boy named Quatre who was gentle, polite, and always kind to her in every way, his girlfriend on the other hand was too cautious around her as she’d break like a fragile glass. Dorothy always lectured her how to eat, sleep, dress, and act politely. Catherine offered to walk with Relena to school, since it wasn’t so far away and the fact that she lived with Trowa, therefore they all go and leave together. No body dare pick on The Crew anyway.
Relena enjoyed her first day of school with her friends, because they never mentioned the ‘incident’. Mrs. Une came, the principal of the school, took Relena aside and asked her questions about the ‘fight’, but Relena didn’t have a clue. She also said that Dr. Po had already informed her of Relena’s conditions, but she was just asking in case.
"Hey Relena! Look at those beautiful cherry blossoms!" Catherine called. She had to admit the cherry blossoms did look beautiful that day. While walking home with Catherine she encountered that same guy she had seen in the hospital for the first time.
"Who’s that?" Relena whispered; Catherine paled a little and just stared at her.
"Heero Yuy," she replied coldly, "He’s the one responsible for what happened to you." Relena thought it was odd. He did seem familiar, but did she have a nagging feeling that it wasn’t his fault? She disregarded the thought and smiled at him. He past right by them without a second glance. Relena felt hurt and looked down to the ground.
"Oh, Relena, don’t worry. He’s always like that," Catherine smiled; he auburn hair swayed gently in the wind. A boy with blonde hair came and smiled at her.
"Hi, Relena. How are you?" he asked politely. He was pretty cute, but he wasn’t her type, he was just way too nice. She smiled politely at him back.
"Fine, thank you. And you?" Relena greeted.
"Wonderful, Dorothy said hi. She couldn’t come to see you today, because of her doctor’s checkup," Quatre chided. Relena nodded, as Hilde came running up to her.
"Hey! Relena! There you are! I was looking all over for you guys. Let’s go have some lunch. Duo’s getting hungry again. Oi! His stomach grumbled in history class," Hilde sighed. Relena laughed, he was so silly at times. Once they had gotten to their usual lunch seats, The Crew came by, in front was Heero, and behind was Duo and Trowa. In the back were Quatre and some guy who seemed to be scowling.
"Hey, Duo! Over here!" Hilde called waving her arms in front catching his attention. Obviously he smelled his way over here. Sally the nurse came walked by winking to the scowling boy, it was strange but he got up and followed her looking a little happier.
"Seems, you’ve been having trouble Wufei," Sally mocked getting her lunch bag and setting it on the table. Wufei frowned at the mentioned name.
"Be quiet onna. This is none of your business. Heero and I are not the best of friends," Wufei barked. Sally laughed at him more, making Wufei’s cheek go a little pink with humiliation. Wufei sighed and sat down eating thinking how this onna wasn’t afraid of him.
"Hey, Hilde is Wufei and Sally?" Relena asked letting the question linger on. Hilde laughed and slapped Relena’s shoulder as if she was crazy or something.
"No not really. Wufei, I must say in my opinion is in denial. Just watch, he’ll be a lovesick dog, Sally’s got some tricks up her sleeve. If you know what I mean," Hilde chuckled; she received an exasperated look from Catherine as she returned eating with Trowa.
"Hey! Did I hear you say Wu-man?" Duo bellowed with his mouth full. Sadly, Hilde was in front of him and had gotten food splattered on. Relena laughed. Heero was the only one sitting alone in the far corner without anyone else. Relena wondered why, everyone was apparently paired up, right? Hilde and Duo, Catherine and Trowa, Wufei and Sally, and last of all, Quatre and Dorothy. He had such intense blue eyes, how could he be responsible? All she saw in those eyes were innocence, but everything that she’s heard didn’t add up. He was innocent, it was just something was tugging at the back of her mind.
Heero took slight glimpses at Relena at the corner of his eyes. He knew for a fact that she was watching him. He had remembered the day so clearly. After she had fallen asleep crying, he had gotten another bear and left it on the table. He stayed there the remaining night and left when the rest came. He knew that when she had asked him who he was, she had gotten amnesia. Ironic wasn’t it? Right when he was about to tell her, fate tore them apart, again. No matter what, he would and he will keep his word, that is, if she does need me, anymore.
