Dead While Living Chapter 4
Relena and Heero turned their heads to see Jade. ‘Why is does she have tears in her eyes?’ They both thought.
"Jade, are you a traitor? After everything I’ve done for you." Heero’s father said.
"I can’t let you hurt these kids anymore, they haven’t done anything." Jade said in a light tone.
"I’ve told you everything. You’re like my sister and my best friend. You know everything. Why would you turn against me, just when I’m going to win." Heero’s father said.
"No, Odin. Remember you said I was here with these girls just for the money. We were friends a long time ago, but now you are my boss. You didn’t tell me everything." Heero’s father looked at her in disbelief. "Traitor." Heero’s father said.
"I shouldn’t be the one killing you." Jade said closing her eyes. Odin laughed and Jade opened her eyes. "What is so funny?" Jade said. He calmed down a little.
"Well. If you are not going to kill me, who is? You can’t stop me, without killing me." He said and smiled.
"I think your son should kill you." Jade said and Odin’s frown turned upside down. "What?" He asked. Jade walked up to Heero and Relena. She looked at Heero and gave him the gun. Relena looked at them and looked at Heero look at Jade with blank eyes. Like he wasn’t there or he was somewhere else. Heero turned towards his father looking into his eyes. Prussian blue looking into Prussian blue. Heero pointed right dead center of his father’s head. His father just smirked. "This is the way it is supposed to be. You killed your mother and now you will kill me, right." Odin said.
"I didn’t kill my mother." Heero said coldly. Then that’s when Relena saw it. For the first time, Heero was crying. She looked at his profile and a tear slipped down his cheek.
"You did. You did kill her and that’s why I hate you so much. I hate you with all my heart. You were a mistake Heero. We didn’t want to have a child, but then by accident we had you. That’s why I never treated you like a son and that’s why I left you with Dr. J; that is why no one will ever love you, because you are a mistake." Odin said in a cold voice, staring Heero in the eyes.
"Then, why didn’t you kill me." Heero whispered.
"Because I wanted you to suffer. You are already dead, but this girl interfered." Odin said and pointed to Relena.
"Oh." Heero said and looked down. The words were so clear in Relena’s ears. She was determined not to cry. She knew Heero gave up as soon as he dropped the gun. The gun clattered on the ground and Odin smirked in satisfaction. Jade watched this scene, playing before her eyes. ‘Was Heero really a mistake.’ She thought.
Flashback:
They were all 15 going to school. Jade, Odin and Marie. Marie was Heero’s mother. Jade never knew Odin and Marie. She was 3 years younger than they were. Jade was 13 in her last year of junior high school. Odin and Marie were 15 in their third year of high school. There was a rumor around junior high school and the high school, that they were the best couple. They had been going out since 7th grade. That meant it had been 4 years. Everyone thought they were the best couple and they were serious about their relationship.
Jade was walking when she saw the two of them walking home from school. Her eyes went wide as she saw them walk together talking. Jade didn’t have many friends; she was usually picked on. She saw herself as ugly even though she was pretty. "Wow." She said, as her bright eyes shone. She watched a girl with dark brown hair that went to her shoulder and Prussian blue eyes. The boy had white hair and the same color eyes as the girl. They both had perfect figures and both were beautiful. They were walking hand in hand, wearing their school talking about something. Jade was hiding behind a bush. She looked at them and watched as they left. She sighed and tears started in her eyes. When she couldn’t see them anymore she sat down behind the bush and cried. "Why can’t I fall in love like that? Why can’t I have a true love." She whispered through sobs.
Jade ran back home and no one was there. She guessed it was better that way, so she wouldn’t have to here all the fighting between her parents. She ran up to her room and dropped her things on the floor. She looked into the mirror and all she saw was someone ugly. She was neglected as a child. Her parents told her she was a mistake, usually her father who was always drunk. Tears started in her eyes and she got angry. She punched the mirror hard, so that it broke under her hand. There was blood spilling from her knuckles, she winced from the pain. She ran out of the room and down the stairs and out of the house. She ran to a bridge and looked down into the beautiful water. She had blood spilling from her hand and tears falling down her face. She sat on the ledge of the bridge looking down. She sat there until it got dark. Odin and Marie split up and went to their own homes. They got out of their school clothes so they could go on their midnight walk like they did all the time. They met together and started to walk. "I love you, Odin. I will love you forever." Marie whispered to Odin. "I love you too. And I will love you longer than forever." Odin said in a gentle tone.
Marie looked forward and gasped. "Huh." Odin said looking at her. "Odin, look." Odin looked forward and saw a girl younger than them getting ready to jump off the ledge of the bridge. His eyes widened as the girl jumped off. He looked towards Marie, but she wasn’t there. He looked forward and saw her running down the steps towards the water under the bridge. He ran over to the ledge looking below it. "Marie." He said, then heard a splash. Marie jumped into the water and swam under water to get the little girl who just jumped off. She found the girl and grabbed her. She swam up to the surface holding onto the girl in her arms. She went to land and pulled the girl onto the concrete. Odin went down the stairs and he quickly gave the girl CPR. Marie got up onto the concrete and the girl spitted out water.
"That was a close one." Odin said smiling. The girl opened her eyes slightly. When she fully opened her eyes she winced in pain and held her hand. Her would was bad and she was loosing blood. "She’s losing blood, lets bring her to the doctor, Odin." Marie said and Odin nodded. Marie looked down at the girl and smiled warmly. "What’s your name?"
"Jade."
"Oh. My name is Marie and this Odin." Marie said and pointed to Odin.
"I know who you are. You are the most popular couple in this neighbor…hood." Jade said and fainted. After that Marie, Odin and Jade became very good friends. They talked about everything, until something unexpected happened. Odin and Marie loved each other a lot. They decided to do something that would change their lives. They decided to have a baby. At the time they weren’t really thinking about having a baby, but thinking about showing their love for each other. Nine months later, Marie was rushed to the hospital. She was 17 and she was having a baby. Odin was there with her when she had the baby. The baby was crying as she held him. She smiled warmly at him, but she was dying from early pregnancy. Her body couldn’t take it. "Odin." She said weakly.
"Yes, Marie. My dear, Marie." Odin said, tears running down his cheeks.
"Take care of Heero. Our, Heero. I won’t be able to take care of him. Tell him, ‘I love him.’ Please, tell him I’ll watch over him. I love you, Odin and I’ll miss you." Marie said.
"But Marie you can’t leave me. I love you, please don’t leave me." Odin sobbed.
"Promise me and say bye to Jade for me, my love." Marie said.
"I will, I promise. I will love you longer than forever my love." Odin said and Marie smiled weakly. Marie held the crying baby in her hands and Odin pressed his forehead against hers.
"I will never leave you. I’ll be with you forever." Marie whispered and they kissed. When they broke the kiss, Odin took the baby from her hands and kissed her forehead as he lay her on her bed. She closed her eyes and smiled in satisfaction. She exhaled and the beeper went off.
"Goodbye, my angel of love. Goodbye." Odin whispered and the baby stopped crying. Heero’s mother lay on her deathbed, smiling. She looked like an angel from heaven. Doctor’s came rushing in and Odin walked out. Outside the door, Jade was standing there. She was looking down and she looked up when Odin walked out.
"Why didn’t you tell me?" Jade whispered. Odin looked down. "It was our secret. I’m sorry." Odin whispered.
Jade at him mad. "I thought we didn’t keep secrets. Why did my dear friend, Marie have to die?!" She yelled and ran away. Odin looked at her fleeing form.
"It was Heero’s fault." He said looking down at the sleeping baby. "You killed your mother and you deserve pain for taking pain for taking her away from me. You were a mistake. I will kill your heart so you will never feel true love. Like I felt for your mother!" He yelled at the baby. The baby woke up and started to cry. "You were a mistake." He whispered. Jade looked at him from the corner of that he thought she had gone from. She listened to him and then whispered, "Heero killed his mother."
