Baby Blues: Chapter II

"Heero Yuy?" Relena repeated the words until they sank into her brain. Her shoulders slumped and her liveliness left her like it was never there. Heero sat at the back of the room in that little corner of his. She glanced back at him for a moment, but looked away quickly. Heero stared at her intently, but said nothing. His baby boy was safely tucked into the carrier on his desk. To no one’s eyes, Heero blushed slightly at the mention of Relena. She the perfect student, but he wasn’t. He was the worst. He didn’t do his homework or finish his projects, but he did past the SAT with high scores that would match Relena’s, but he purposely missed some so she would be known as the brightest student. The only guy friend that understood him was Duo. Duo knew that he wasn’t the quiet or mean type at all. It was only a shell to keep himself from being hurt by other’s opinions.

"Well, class is dismissed, but make sure to work with your partners. Treat them as family. I want some pictures taken of you!" Miss Noin shouted as the students busily packed up their bags and left. Relena was the first out the door as always. She waited at the front of the school and waited for Heero. All the students passed by and had gone home already, but Heero hadn’t come out yet. Relena lost patience and stomped to the front door only to meet it with her face.

"Oof!" Relena yelped as the door slammed her face. Heero turned around and saw Relena the ground rubbing her bruised nose.

"Uh…I’m sorry…are you okay?" Heero asked as he held out his hand for her to take. She refused. She stood up and brushed the dust off of her uniform and looked at him straight in the eye.

"Okay…let me get this straight, I may be the student counsel president, but I’m not easy to just be walked all over and ignored. I need to get an A+ on this project and you better cooperate or else you’ll see another side of me that no one has seen," Relena warned as she jabbed a finger at him. Heero shook her glare off and started walking down the steps as if nothing had happened. Relena’s anger flared.

"What about our project-!" Relena shouted. He stopped, but didn’t look at her. He started walking again.

"Meet me under the cherry blossom tree tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.," Heero stated and left a shocked Relena. The words rang in her ears over and over.

"Hmm…maybe I did get through to him…," Relena smiled. Tomorrow was going to be Saturday, they’ll have the time to work then.

Relena waited at the cherry blossom tree for awhile and decided that he had stood her up. It had been three hours that she waited there patiently for him, but he never showed up. Relena was going to kill him for messing with her like that. Maybe the rumors were true, maybe he was mean and rotten. She was so mad that she kicked the cherry tree and stomped home realizing that she had wasted an entire day for nothing.

"God I am going to get an F-," Relena wailed as she slammed her bedroom door and fell onto her bed. Her mother went up the stairs and opened the door.

"Honey are you okay? You seem really upset," Mrs. Peacecraft stated looking worriedly at her young daughter. Relena turned around and smiled weakly at her mother.

"Oh nothing mom," Relena replied cheerfully. Mrs. Peacecraft smiled in return as she got up.

"Oh wait. A young boy called and said he couldn’t make it to your meeting right after you left," she said as Relena mumbled some more inaudible words to herself.

"So, he couldn’t make it…he better have a really good excuse," Relena muttered as she feel asleep.

~dream~

Relena walks in a clouded mist and sees a shadow somewhere.

"Is anybody here?" Relena yelled through the pit of darkness and mist. She turned around and saw a man wearing a black mask next to her. It only revealed his pure azure eyes. She stared at him for awhile. As time passed their faces grew closer until their noses were touching…

~end of dream~

Relena woke up with a headache as her phone rang for five times before she picked it up. It was 6:30 a.m. in the morning who could possibly be calling at this hour. She lazily picked up the phone.

"Hello?" Relena greeted to her surprise it was Heero.

"Can you meet me at the same place right now?" Heero asked.

"Why, so you can stand me up again?" Relena retorted sitting up.

"No, I can explain when you get there, bring your baby…by the way sorry" Heero answered calmly as he hung up. Relena pouted and dressed herself up. She walked out on the street holding her baby in its basket as the street lights flicked. It was almost morning, but it was still dark. The baby’s basket was bare and plain, because she didn’t have the time to decorate it like the rest of the class had, well, except Heero of course. She sighed and squinted at the cherry blossom tree that they were supposed to meet the day before. To her amazement, he actually came. There, at the cherry blossom tree was Heero Yuy and his baby boy.

"Well, at least you made it," Relena chuckled, "You actually did what you said." Heero lifted his eyebrow at her amusement. Heero swiftly turned around and started walking off.

"Hey! Where are you going?! We’re suppose to work together!" Relena hollered as she chased after him. He stopped in his tracks and waited for her. Relena stopped beside Heero huffing and puffing.

"Follow me," Heero said quietly and began walking again. Relena obeyed and followed him. For the next 20 minutes of walking in the dark, Relena didn’t recognize her surroundings. It was like a nature place.

"We’re here," Heero announced smiling for the first time. Relena looked around at the beautiful view off of the cliff and she grinned.

"So this is your special place?" Relena teased looking at the rising sun, "I have to admit, it’s gorgeous here." Heero gave her an impish grin and sat down. Relena stopped viewing her surroundings and sat down beside him. She plopped her sugar bag onto her lap like his.

"I didn’t go yesterday, because my mother had an accident…," Heero paused, "She died this morning." Relena gasped and then felt guilty for acting like a total jerk. She began fidgeting not knowing what to say to him. He leaned back and laid on the ground.

"You don’t have to say anything," Heero replied, glancing at her. Tears started pouring out of her eyes, because the mention of death reminded her of her father. He had died too. No many how many times she had vowed not to cry, it doesn’t work. She tried wiping away her tears before Heero saw it, but it was too late. Heero began getting up and into a sitting position.

"S-sorry about that…it’s just that…my dad died six months ago," Relena faltered. She began crying all over again. To her horror was that the horror never came only a hug. He didn’t say anything, he didn’t tease her, and he didn’t leave her. He just hugged her from the back. Morning had arisen by then already. Relena felt cold as a cool breeze blew by. She snuggled closer to Heero and fell asleep. Maybe he wasn’t so bad after all. Maybe he’s really innocent after all…
