HAPPY CAMPERS

‘‘Where is this frikken camp anyway?’’ shouted Duo impatiently

Heero, Duo, Trowa, Quatre, Wufei, Relena, Catherine, Dorothy and Sally had all agreed to go on a camping trip. They are currently following Duo who has insisted to find the camp site for them and are walking in single file.

Trowa walked over and yanked the map out of Duo’s hand and turned it the other way round. It appeared that the hour the had spent wandering around the high grass was wasted. Duo had been reading the map upside down.

“Can’t you do ANYTHING right, Maxwell?” snorted Wufei.

“Shut up, Wuffie! I’d like to see you trying to lead!”

After half an hour (Heero is now leading as Duo had been thrown to the back of the line) they finally found the campsite. The place was empty.

“Are you sure this is the campsite?” asked Duo.

“This is the place alright” answered Heero, glancing down to the map in his hands, having some last minute check.

“Hey! Over here” Quatre yelled. He pointed up at the big sign above him. It said:

SORRY! FAMILY CAMP HAVE MOVED!

The glorious sunshine faded away as the last of the sun’s rays disappeared out of sight and night folded into the sky and the air suddenly turned very chilly.

“We’ve got no choice but to put up our tents and sleep for the night.” Suggested Heero.

It took a long time for them to set up their tents. Duo kept on bombarding Hilde’s tent with scoops of mud and Wufei kept on losing his temper on his and took it out on Duo’s tent. Quatre was the first to finish his tent and he scurried over to help Dorothy with hers.

“Fine! Just go over and help your darling Dorothy.” Complained Duo.

“I would’ve helped you if you’d only put down that handful of mud!” replied Quatre.

Dorothy’s tent didn’t take long. As soon as he finished Dorothy’s Quatre strolled over to help Duo with his.

“Finally” Duo sighed as he saw Quatre’s silhouette. “I’ve been waiting for ages!”

“You could’ve at least started!” Quatre tutted. Duo’s tent was harder to build than Quatre thought. The poles were bent( Duo had been bending them in fury) and he could not find the pegs that holds the tent skin.

Half an hour later Duo thought for a while. “Come to think of it, I think I left it on the kitchen table!” Duo exclaimed.

Later, after the help of the whole group, Duo’s tent was finished. He had no pegs, therefore, he had twigs piercing through the skin of the tent and digging into the grass. All 10 persons’ tent formed a circle:

“Man, I’m stinking!” Duo took of his shirt.

“Come to think of it…how will we wash?” asked Sally Po.

“Is there a shower nearby?” asked Relena.

“Well, there’s a lake… Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” Duo smirked.

“Duo, we are NOT going skinny dipping!”

“How else are we supposed to wash?” cried Duo.

“We can go in one by one” insisted Quatre.

“And we shall do that.” Heero’s tone of voice settled the case.

“Ladies first” Duo gestured towards the girls. Relena went first. “Heero, you can go with Relena to check if there’s any crocodiles!” Duo joked.

“Haha. You’re funny, Duo.” Heero said.

Trowa and Wufei gathered wood, Heero going to the other end of the lake had gone spearing fish. And Quatre using Duo’s lighter, made a fire. They all gathered around the fire and Heero shortly joined them with fresh fish. Relena returned just in time to eat.

“All the girls are done” Announced Dorothy, returning after her bathe in the lake. ‘Who’s next?’

“I’m going.” Duo jumped up, ruffled in his backpack and skipped towards the lake.

“Hurry up Duo!” shouted Quatre.

“Yeah Maxwell! Hurry up! There’s still a queue behind you!” yelled Wufei.

“Shut up Wuffie!” snapped Duo.

“Does he normally take this long at home too?” Quatre asked Hilde who nodded.

Finally, Duo returned with his hair wet but still pulled back into a braid.

“Well If you had hair this long. I would like to see how long it takes to wash it.” protested Duo.

Next was Heero. Relena’s eyes followed him as he left.

Gradually, the queue shortened to the last person, Wufei. He got up to take his bath and disappeared out of sight.

An evil grin spreaded across Duo’s cheeky face….

Roasting marshmallows, they started chatting.

Then suddenly There was a big scream. Everyone shot up to their feet, eyes wide.

They stared.

“Wufei!” they all looked at each other and shouted at the same time.

“Yee haw!’ shouted a voice.

After that, they saw………Duo running towards them, carrying a bunch of clothes and swinging a towel over the top of his head like a helicopter and whooping like a cowboy.

“MAXWELL!!!!”

The all recognized that angry voice. With a towel wrapped around his head like a turban and………a few long leaves wrapped around his bottom half of his body. Wufei stepped out. It seemed by the look of things that Duo has nicked Wufei’s properties while he was bathing in the lake…leaving one towel behind( ‘Leaving him with nothing is much too cruel’ said Duo) He had a choice whether to cover up his private parts or his nobody-has-seen-it-down-before hair….he had chose his hair somehow.

Fool Duo thought as he enjoyed the scene.

They all gasped as Duo killed himself laughing and pointing at Wufei. Duo had yet again succeeded in embarrassing Wufei infront of everyone.

“Towel. NOW!” screamed Wufei clutching the leaves as the knot loosened.

“Come and get it….” Duo teased.

Wufei could not let this annoying braided boy humiliate him any longer. He ran and chased Duo.

Everybody else sweatdropped.

Sally, amazingly, didn’t take Wufei’s side. This camp vacation would so with a bit of laughter! And she was secretly enjoying watching the half-naked Wufei chase the now Duo with a stitch.

“Come on….jump, Wuffie!!” demanded Duo, waving the towel over Wufei’s head. Wufei jumped as high as he could but every time he jumped, Duo would jerk it back, breaking it away from Wufei’s reach this was highly entertaining and to Duo’s delight, Wufei gets angrier and angrier every second.

Duo was now getting bored of this game and have let go off the towel and let it drift down to the angry Wufei. He jumps but fails to receive it and ends up falling face first into the pool of mud.

The audience roared with laughter and the same applies to Duo.

“Hey Wuffie! Having a good swim eh?” Duo yelled down occasionally laughing in the middle of it. “Hey Trow! Will ya accept another clown? Wuffie’ll make a good one…that is, if he trains in his jumping more…”

I will not waste my time on this fool Wufei thought and stomped away for another bath.

After the show, everyone crawled into their tents and fell asleep.

Quatre woke up, stretching, he decided that he’ll go and wash his face before Wufei and Duo wake up and start fighting. He walked out of his tent looked at Duo’s pathetic ‘pegs’ and laughed inwardly.

There was already somebody by the lake. As Quatre walked forward, the person came into focus.

“Good morning, Trowa” Quatre greeted his friend.

Trowa looked up with his face wet. “Good morning, Quatre”

“An early bird today.” Quatre said.

“Yeah. Wanna enjoy the morning before it is ruined by Wufei’s screaming and Duo’s laughter.”

As Trowa said that very phrase, they heard:

“DIE! MAXWELL!”

Trowa and Quatre looked at each other and shrugged. “Oh well! Here we go…” they both said. And with that they went back into the campsite.

By the time Trowa and Quatre arrived back at the campsite, Wufei and Duo were rolling about on the floor, hands on neck. Relena, Dorothy and Catherine were all in their night dresses. Heero was standing with them in his pyjamas.

“What’s happening?” asked Quatre.

“Exactly what you think is happening.” Answered Heero.

Trowa and Quatre walked into the fighting circle and broke them apart from each other.

Duo remained calm but Wufei clawed and tried to break free from Trowa’s grip. With bloodshot eyes, he screamed, ‘Let me at him…get off, Barton!’

“Calm down” Trowa shouted as he held back Wufei.

“Geez, Wuffie. It’s just a joke!”

Wufei snorted and walked off, Sally Po on his heels.

Watching the pair go, the rest of the people all sat under a large willow tree.

“Duo, I think you’ll gone a little too far!” said Quatre.

“Camping is supposed to be fun” insisted Duo, leaning on the tree trunk using his arms as a pillow.

“The weather is lovely!” shrieked Relena.

Dorothy clasped her hands together. Quatre recognized this gesture.

“I have a splendid idea. The weather is too good to miss! Let’s go in the water”

“Aw yes!” exclaimed Duo.

“No, Duo, we are NOT going skinny dipping. We are changing into swimming costumes” said Hilde.

They all headed back to their tents, moments later, they met up at the lake. Heero wore blue trunks. Duo red with his basketball top, Quatre had white ones and lastly, Trowa with green trunks. Relena wore a sandy yellow frilly bikini, Dorothy, a purple swimming costume, Hilde and Sally wore light green of different designs and Catherine a red costume.

“Hey Babes!” Duo yelled and Dived into the lake, showing off. Quatre walked to the side and peered down. Of all the Gundam Pilots, he was one of the shortest one. But before he could jump in, a pair of hands shot out of the water and dragged him into the water. “Argh!” Quatre screamed before plunging underwater.

Heero laughed but a tanned arm and a white one did exactly the same. Drag him in. The three boys laughed. The three pilots ducked underwater and shot their arms out to grab Trowa but they couldn’t get anyone. Surfacing, they looked above the bank to see where he was.

“Looking for me, boys?” said Trowa.

They all turned around. “T-Trowa??” they said. Trowa grinned.

“We’re your best friends…aren’t we?”

Trowa laughed evilly and ducked all three of heads into the water.

The 4 Gundam Pilots gave each other eye signals and they all scrambled out of water and rushed for the girls. Dorothy, Catherine and Relena ran and dived into the water whereas Hilde was lifted up by Duo. He cackled and ran for the water and jumped in, Hilde and all.

They splashed around like crazy little kids, having water fights(girls vs. Boys) playing water volley ball just splashing about.

“ARGHHHHHH!!!!!” a pair of voices shouted.

The 4 Gundam girls and boys looked back to see who it was but too late, the two strangers jumped off the bank and had landed on them.

Hilde, Trowa and Catherine had enough brains to duck underwater to avoid the wave, Quatre received a jab in the ribs by Dorothy to wake him up and got jerked underwater by Dorothy and before he had dived underwater, he had grabbed the nearest thing to pull down with him and unfortunately, the first thing he could lay his hands on was Duo’s long braid.

The 8 of them resurfaced. Who had been the two nutters who gave them a heart attack? Answer, Wufei and Sally.

They high fived each other.

“Wufei, you nearly broke my neck!” complained Heero, massaging the back of his neck.

“Hah! Gotchas all!” teased Wufei.

As the pilots argue which body part Wufei had damaged, the girls secretly climbed out of the water.

‘LADDIES!!’ Hilde whistles. The boys stop arguing immediately and all looked over to the direction of her voice and before they knew it, the girls sprang from the bank and landed right on top of them forcing them underwater and a big mass of struggle for the girls to get outa the water.

Catherine stood right infront of the bank as Relena put her foot up, hands on the bank and hitched herself up.

The 5 Gundam pilots broke to the surface of the water gasping for breath, wiping the water of their faces, they caught Hilde stepping onto Catherine. The other 3 girls were already on the bank.

They saw the 5 Gundam pilots resurface.

“Quick!” urged Dorothy as Hilde struggled to get up. They grabbed her arm and heaved. With ease, she was lifted up.

“Oh no, yas don’t…” shouted the pilots. The hurried over to catch Catherine but just as they reached her, she was pulled up by the other girls.

The 5 girls stuck giggled. “Catch us if yous can..”They sing-songed and ran to hide.

The pilots copied their method, Trowa at the bottom as he was the one with experienced skills. They fought to step on Trowa first, Heero went first as Duo and Wufei massaged the back of their neck where Heero had tugged their hair back and Quatre resurfaced.

Finally, Trowa, the last of the 5 jumped to the bank with ease.

“Trowa, you’ve gotta teach us that jumping trick to us next time we have that problem.” Duo smirked and looked at Wufei. “Wufei wants some jumping lessons too…”

“Shut up, Maxwell!”

“Where could they be hiding?” said Trowa, looking around.

“Where are they?” Relena smirked.

“Go and look, Dorothy!” commanded Sally who was thoroughly enjoying this.

“Okay” Dorothy nodded.

Dorothy brushed the leaves aside and peered out.

“Are they still getting up from the bank?” giggled Hilde.

“N..ope!” replied Dorothy,” They’re looking around like wee loonies!” laughed Dorothy, “My, Quatre looks so cute with that confused expression of his!”

“Let me see my Duo” exclaimed Hilde, Pushing Dorothy away.

“No, I wanna see Heero!” Relena said

“No, Wufei first!”

“Pluk! Definitely not Wufei!” the others said

“What? What’s wrong with him? He’s pretty handsome actually…” Sally protested fluttering her eyelashes. The others continued to fight over the tiny space to watch their partners, they had not been listening to Sally.

“Look! Over there!” Quatre pointed to the trees. “They’re moving!”

Duo rubbed his hands, “Party time.”

They all nodded at each other and then suddenly they burst into speed towards where the girls are hiding.

“Eek!” squealed Dorothy, who won the battle over the little opening of space. “Hurry! Run! They’re coming!”

The boys bursted into the trees, to catch a glimpse of Sally’s tanned foot.

“Quick! The sides!” yelled Trowa.

Quickly, the boys surrounded the patch of trees, trapping them in. And, in the moment of time, the girls are all kidnapped.

“We won!” cheered the boys, high fiving each other. The all paused and looked at the girls and an evil grin spreaded across everyone of their faces.

“Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” said Duo, with the chessiest grin of them all and his face cheekier than ever.

“Uh-huh!” nodded the other gundam pilots.

“We’ll go in reversed order. Wufei, your woman first!” said Duo.

Wufei and Duo strolled over to the girls which Trowa, Heero and Quatre had been guarding. They pulled Sally out and nudged her over to the lake, unexpectedly, they lifted her by the arms and feet and threw her into the water. At that point, the remaining girls pulled a face. “Oo..” they all chorused.

“You’re next, Dorothy!” exclaimed Quatre. He let her out, getting Duo and Wufei to take his and Trowa’s face. It took Quatre and Trowa both to drag Dorothy over. She has seen what Sally had ended up as and had prepared. Quatre and Trowa looked very serious and sensible before but during this moment, they had a cheesy grin on their face and they definitely didn’t look very serious.

“Bye bye!” waved Quatre as he threw his girl into the water.

“You next, Catherine!” Trowa barked.

Catherine, however was as good as gold, she walked over with Trowa behind and Duo leading her. As Duo pushed her, she turned to the side and Duo belly flopped into the water clumsily. The girls cheered. Trowa, being her partner for this silly scene in the circus had predicted her next move and easy as that, finished with her and got her in the water.

Next was Hilde. The strongest of the lot. Quatre and Duo pulled and dragged but she has kept on tickling them both, she was near impossible to get into the water. Finally, Duo had to carried her and jump in the water with her!

Relena was the only one left, easy as a cake, Heero swung her over his shoulder and walked over to the bank , plopped her back the right way up onto the ground and pushed her in.

After all this, the boys fought each other into the water. Quatre being the smallest was able to nip in and out of the others and often as he did so, resulted in Duo and Wufei colliding into each other. Trowa was a clown and therefore had little tricks here and there. Wufei was the first to fall into the water.

Trowa was a particular hard one, he was able to somersault in every direction as he wish, Heero was the strongest and Quatre was the fastest while Duo wasn’t anything and was soon, joining Wufei, in the lake. Quatre was thrown in as Trowa and Heero ganged up on him.

“Hey! No fair!” yelled Quatre just before he hits the water. And lastly, Heero was thrown in by one of Trowa’s clown moves.

I worked very hard to get this finished….I didn’t know what to write….but as I went along, I caught on an it because much easier but like I said before, the people are outa character…I mean…who would’ve thought Heero would muck about on the bank with the others??
